JUNIORS: Row 1: Jeff Paulsen, Lau a Stone, David Smith. Row 2: Beret Fluttum, Wade Gubrud, Cheryl Doom. This was the first year of the National Honor Society. Character, service, leadership, and scholarship are the four components of the organization. An installation service was held on November 10. One of the projects we did this year was we got the Awards Banquet rolling. We also addressed, stuffed and licked over 3,000 envelopes for the athletic field fund raiser! This summer in the Hat Daze parade a few of our members are being clowns. OFFICERS: Secretary-Susan Bies; Treasurer-Tammy Berckes; President-Jill Larson; Vice President-Wade Gubrud. All School Play — Children of a Lesser God Our Cast: Row 1: Susan Bies and Marcus Padilla as our entertainment. Row 2: Lisa Antony, Lois Regnier, Kerri Gingles, and Holly Maas were our back stage women who helped us out quite a few times. Row 3: Tricia Warwick also assisted in helping. Jon Houtman was our lead man as James Leeds and Denise Hanson was our caring mother Mrs. Norman. Row 4: Beret Fluttum was a deaf student, one who could talk, her name was Lydia: Laurie Christie was a lawyer who didn't know much about the deaf world, she was named Miss Edna Klein: Valerie Goodmanson was our deaf lead woman, Sarah Norman, who later became Sarah Norman Leeds and Brian Schmidt was Mr. Franklin, an administrator who used deaf people as a product of his business. Mrs. Lavonne Winters, alias Frau, led this play, she worked very hard at it and we thank her.

Awards Banquet Qn May 1, 1988 at 6:00 p.m. at the high school gym, the first Honors Banquet was held. The National Honor Society and the Blue and Gold Foundation co- sponsored the event. The members of the National Honor Society were the Host and Hostesses. It was a great success. Jill Larson was Mist, of Ceremonies. The program consisted of a welcome from Mr. Ailts and remarks from Mr. Paul Ruth, President of the Blue and Gold Foundation. Wade Gubrud gave an inspirational message. There was a sax solo by Kim Markegard. The Four Suits, Marcus Padilla, Javier Ramos, Kelly Jeremiason and Jon Houtman performed during the meal. The awards were then presented. Silver awards (175 points) Todd Hoffman, Janelle Jacobson, Pam McLain, Jill Weber, Traci Miller, Paul Hansen, David Johnson, Jason Pyle. Tammy Berckes, Shawna Eilers. Jeff Paulsen, Chad Blumeyer, David Smith. David Jere- miason, Jodi Kompe- lien, Laurie Christie, Val Goodmanson, Lynn Chrtt, Laura Stone, Cheryl Doom, Kim Markegard, Beret Fluttum, Terri Paulson.
