Text from Pages 1 - 112 of the 1974 volume:

LIVE EACH DAY. . . Live each day to the fullest. Get the most from at of each day, and back without regrets. Be yourself—but be your best self. Dare to be different and to follow your own star. And don't be afraid to be happy. Enjoy what is beautiful. Love with all your heart and soul. Believe that those you love, love you. Learn to forgive yourself for your faults, for this is the first step in learning to forgive others. Listen to those whom the world may consider interesting, for each person has, in himself, something of worth. Disregard what the world owes you, and concentrate on what you owe the world. Forget what you have done for your friends, and remember what they have done for you. When you are faced with a decision, make that decision as wisely as possible — then forget it. That moment of absolute certainty never arrives. Above all, remember that God helps those who help themselves. Act as if everything depended upon you, and pray as if everything depended upon God. and each age of yc Then you can look aid with confidence, THIS IS OUR YEAR. 1974 tki xMtruis d YltiL PcumSUi TbJ Crrx-, AjjyOLXLZ£j i-My djLdUxuCtz. In the be- ginning we started as Jr. editors, trying hard to learn the tricks of the trade. Even before you came back to school last year, we were housecleaning and redecorating our nice big room! We finally got it painted and new curtains made, but it took three months before we got our curtain rods up. (Without those curtains we had to behave ourselves, because the teachers in their lounge could spy on us. ) Then, after everything was in order, our window was acci- dentally broken. Right Randy? With the window gone we could see everyone who was going up and down the stairs. We really enjoyed watching all you guys running around the halls during the mod! We really got our eyes full. Thanks for stopping in and visiting with us, and for asking how the annual was coming along. We also thank Mr. Tobin for checking up on us and keeping us on our toes! But, HA HA, you missed the time we were eating popcorn underneath the desk! Thanks to Mrs. Fransen for giving us the passes and being so helpful. Oh ya, we really enjoyed that trip to St. Peter. Thanks to Margaret, Brenda, Lori, Mr. Wilde and all the other photography kids who put up with us and tried to make pictures all those strange sizes. Thanks to Mrs. Fransen's girls for typing and I.D. ing all those pictures. You really did a good job. To the janitors--we thank you for turning up the heat that made the icicles on the window melt and drip on the floor. We still haven't told Mr. Hoyme that it wasn't a doggie that made that mess! Last, but not least, to Kim and Sharon, we will give you our famous curtains, which by the way, have gotten a lot of com- pliments. Have fun next year fighting over who gets to sit at the desk and the one good chair. We tried hard to get you all in this book but a few of you were camera shy. We hope the 1974 LANCER will bring back a lot of good ole' memories. The Editors, BELOW: The Editors of the yearbook are Ruth Myers and Paula Nelson. DeLon Clarksean, master of ceremonies, told a story pertaining to each girl. Queen Marilyn gave a short summary about her year. She then had us all line up and after a suspense- ful wait, she placed the robe on my shoulders. I was then crowned and given a dozen beautiful roses from the Lettermen's Club. I was also presented with an autographed football from the football team. Sheri Kannegieter en- tertained us with two songs. A bonfire followed. The next day we played Ortonville and during half time, the float was presented with the royalty. The Lancers played a great games even though they were beaten. Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly, birds fly over the rainbow. Why, then oh why can't I? Our ability to work together and get high for the games really paid off. It shows what a team without alot of promise can do if they want to. G. H. I think we had a great season. We surprised ourselves and everyone else. We proved that an in- experienced and small team could win by working to- gether. We were a team and not a group of individuals. G. M. I think we proved that we could play as a team and win as a team. I don't think we had any let downs at games. We al- ways were fighting and I think we should all be proud of what we did. T.J. This season was a great success to me because we proved that a team that was small, inexperienced, and was not supposed to win a game all year, can do if they get a little confidence and alot of support from their fans.
