The Homecoming event this year was similar to the former year, each candidate chose their own escort. On the night of coronation everyone was very nervous and excited. At 7:30 p. m., each girl was escorted to the stage by her es- cort. When seated, Pat Verhelst, mistress of ceremonies, proceeded. A question was introduced to each girl con- cerning themselves, which helped to ease the tension. Homecoming BELOW: Marilyn Hoffman with escort, Roger Weber. Then Debbie Olson gave her speech and the coronation followed. We lined up on the stage in a row and Debbie placed the robe upon my shoulders. I was then crowned and given a dozen beautiful red roses from the Letterman's Club, and an autographed football from the football team. A bonfire followed the coronation. The next day, we played against the Granite Falls Kilo- watts and during half-time, the float was presented carrying the royalty. The Lancers were tremendous with a 34-6 win.
