Laurits Hansen, our foreign exchange student from Denmark, has brightened our halls this year with his ever-present smile and friendly personality. After the little struggle I came here to Canby. The Americans were not too different from the Danes. The language was pretty hard in the beginning and I had big difficulties in following them when they started to talk fast or use all their slang. Really, cool, are you kidding, and that kind of expressions I had never heard before. I also found out that Americans mostly eat hamburgers, pizza, or jello, or drink Coke. The school here is much better than in Denmark. You have sports teams, cheerleaders, pepfests, choirs, bands, and more things that make the school much more personal and therefore much more fun. We never use yearbooks in Danish schools either. I really enjoy my stay here in Canby and everybody is always so kind to me. At last I will say many thanks to the kids and teachers in CHS and also to the rest of the community because they have made this great experience possible for me. Thank you. From the Dane in America, Laurits Hansen RIGHT: Laurits is showing his native flag to his American family, the Maas'. They are LEFT TO RIGHT, Laurits, Melanie, Louise, David, and Steve Maas.
