Editors: Gail Mahlum and Janet Benson 1971 LANCER nby High School nby, Minnesota Advisor: Miss Janet Hundeby Throughout this year each individual has gathered his own personal memories, but even though our roles were different our goal was the same. With each new day we encountered unique situations whether in competition or co- operation we tried to meet them fairly. We hope in the 1970-71 LANCER we have captured a few of these memories for you. 2 CONTENTS As a ninth grader Joan Pesek entered Canby High School. Her pleasant personality won many friends. She became very active in school activities by taking part in plays, clubs, organizations, and committees. She was always smiling, especially when it came to music. She found joy in playing her horn and singing in choir. As President, she led the FHA. Through this, she helped others find the need of knowledge and love. Joan walked a highway filled with love and happiness. She learned. She led, she followed. She won, she lost. She laughed and cried. She worked hard and played hard. We, the Senior Class of 1971, sincerely dedicate our Lancer to Joan Pesek. DIRECTION ADMINISTRATION DECIDES SCHOOL POLICIES Mr. Ailts coordinated the schools in Canby. We tried new things and explored new ideas, but soon found they were not in vain. Though the work was sometimes long and tedious, we all en- joyed bringing you this 1970-71 LANCER. Offenders, give us the grace to accept and to forgive offenders. Forgetful ourselves, help us to bear cheerfully the forgetfulness of others. Give us courage and gaiety and the quiet mind. us, if it may be, in all our innocent endeavors. If it may not, give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temperate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving one to another. 100 Robert L. Stevenson
