FACULTY and CLASSES The Lancer Staff would like to pay a tribute to the growth of one phase of our vocational program---the shop department. When Arnold Killen joined the Canby faculty in 193ft , the shop program was limited indeed. During all these years, Mr. Killen has struggled along in the basement of the grade building in somewhat crowded quarters, has added equipment, and has made the depart- ment an important part of boys' education in Canby . By 1951, the department was expanded to include the metal shop and a metal shop teacher was added. Today Don Straw holds that position. In 1953, an agriculture uapartment was added with Dewaine Englund as instructor. 1955-'56 sees another part of Hr. Mickelson's building and expansion program realized—the new shop and vocational ag building. This has long been one of Mr. Killen's pet dreams. And so. to this department, we say a special Hats off to vou.

We have Known you for 8 years and do especially appreciate your interest in us and our welfare; your desire for the expansion and promotion of our school; your determination to provide us with a good educa- tional background. Perhaps more than all, we appreciate your sense of humor. We will never forget your version of The Night Before Christmas ; that always seemed a fitting start for our two weeks holiday. To you, Mr. C. P. Mickelson, we, the students of Canby High School, dedicate our 19?6 Lancer! 2
