Canby 63 Granite Falls 51 Leading by a safe margin until the last 5 minutes when Granite pulled te within ene peint ef the Lancers, the Canbv team had brief moment ef worry. The Lancers then scored 13 peints te only 4 for the Kilowatts. Rennie with 27 and Erv with 18 led the scoring, while Larsen hit 19 for the losing Granite team. Canby 79 Strandburg 28 After a elese first quarter whieh found the score at 16 te 13, the South Daketians fell apart and it was another easy victory for the Lancers. Mike, Err, and Ron led the scoring with 18, 17, and 15 peints respectively. Canby 79 Lynd 25 This was a very easy game for the Lancers. They seemed to be able te score almost at will and were never in trouble. Canby 59 Madison 25 Winning their second straight Little Sioux Conference Championship, the Lancers made easy work ef the Madison Dragons. Ren led the scoring with 18 points. Canby 68 Glenwoed 46 Scoring an amazing 32 points in the first quarter the Lancers coasted to a victory over the Glenwood olub. This game stands out as one in which uncanny shooting ability was demonst- rated. Ron and Erv led with 13 each. Canby 51+ Marshall 1+5 This is the game the boys always want to win; and after a close first half, they put the game on ice by a few quick baskets. Mike with 13 and Erv and Ron with 12 each led the scoring for Canby. Lanoue hit 21 for the Tigers. Canby 55 Grove City 1+1 Led by Bones Miller, wKo tallied 17 points, the Lancers defeated a big, but slower Grove City team. It was close for the first half, but the beginning of the second half found the Lancers catching fire and taking a decisive lead that was never threatened. Canby 66 Danube 52 Trailing 23 to 22 at the half, the Lancers fought back to finish the season with a 68 to 52 win over the hot shooting Danube club. Bones led the score column for Canby with 21 points. DISTRICT TOURNAMENT Canby 36 Lake Benton 20 Having nothing in mind l ut to keep the score down, the Lakers hardly ever attempted a shot. This led to a very uninteresting and yet a very easy victory for the Lancers. Canby 69 Tyler 1+9 Led oy Keith Meyer, who tailed 18 points, the Tyler Danes made life miserable for the Lanc- ers throughout the first half and part of the third quarter. The Lancers coolness under fire then paid off and they won by a 20 point margin. Ron and Erv each scored 22 points in leading the Lancers to victory. Canby 61+ Marshall 1+0 Holding the Tigers’TTigh scoring center Charles Lutz to only 2 points, the Lancers started slowly and then built up a lead of 32 to 18 at half. After this the Tigers lost a lot of spirit and it seemed to be just a matter of how much difference there would be in the final score. Smith and Mikkelson again led the Lancer scoring with 21 and 18 points. The Lancers were honored by hsving three layers named to the All District Team----Mike Dunphy, Erv Mikkelson, and Ron Smith. REOIONAL TOWRNAMRW? Canby 1+7 Dawson 35’ Dawson started fast and led 9 to 2 at one time during the first period of play The Lancers then tied it up at 13 all, and from then on the champs never trailed. Ron Smith led the scoring with 17, being helped by Bones who hit the bucket for 12. Sundby had 15 for the losers. Canby 1+6 Redwood Falls 31 Led by Erv Mikkelson who rolled in 17 points, the Lancers won their way back to the state tournament with a 1+6 to 31 win over Redwood. At one point the score was 8 to 6 in favor of Redwood. The Lancers staged a spurt that carried them to a 22 to 9 lead and that, sewed up the game. MANKATO INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT Canby 53 South Saint Paul 1+1+ . . Hitting”of their shots the Oncers, with Bones impressive 18 points, made easy work of the Packers. leaves So 3oubt that this was one of the greatest games the Lancer team has err r played. Everybody was outstanding in this final game of the tournament-clever ball handling, rebounding that was out of this world, amazingly accurate shooting, and general floor play. First row: R. Blankenfeld, L. Pertl, J. Christianson, D. Olson. Canby 39 Monte 29 Starting very slowly and not playing up to their usual standards the Lancers made hard work of the Mohawks. At one time in the fourth period, the score was tied at 27 all. The Lan- cers then pulled away to win. Ron S. led our scoring with 17 points. Canby 68 Hendricks 23 This was a very easy game for the Lancers. The score mounted steadily with the second five playing most of the way. Ron S. with 19 and Bones with 17 led the scoring. Canby h2 Ivanhoe 22 This was another easy game for the Lancers. Ivanhoe jumped to an early 7 to 0 lead, but the Lancers then scored 21 points while the Eagles were getting only one free throw. Mike led the scoring with 12 points. Canby 36 Minneapolis Central UO Canby gained an early lead but ran out of gas in the last quarter. They once led 10 to 2 and led 25 to 22 at the half. Central then took the lead on seven straight points (29 to 26)• The Minneapolis club led 36 to 3U at the end of the third quarter and never trailed after this. Erv with 13 and Ron S. with 12 led our scoring. Patzwald and Blanchard were Central1s aces. Canby U8 Minneota 29 The Lancers had very little trouble with the inexperienced Vikings. Erv led our scoring with 13; Roberg hit 10 for the Vikings. with 63 to 39 With Erv gathering in almost every rebound that came off the boards and also scoring 19 points, the game was never in doubt. Smith and Miller made llx and 16 points res- pectively. Canby UO Dawson 29 After holding a sale half time lead of 20 to 11, the Lancers began to relax and the Black- jacks pulled to within 5 points of the Lancer team. Ihe Lancers then put on a scoring ■pree and pulled away to win, with Erv s high score of 11. 30
