Canby 66 Danube 52 Trailing 23 to 22 at the half, the Lancers fought back to finish the season with a 68 to 52 win over the hot shooting Danube club. Bones led the score column for Canby with 21 points. DISTRICT TOURNAMENT Canby 36 Lake Benton 20 Having nothing in mind l ut to keep the score down, the Lakers hardly ever attempted a shot. This led to a very uninteresting and yet a very easy victory for the Lancers. Canby 69 Tyler 1+9 Led oy Keith Meyer, who tailed 18 points, the Tyler Danes made life miserable for the Lanc- ers throughout the first half and part of the third quarter. The Lancers coolness under fire then paid off and they won by a 20 point margin. Ron and Erv each scored 22 points in leading the Lancers to victory. Canby 61+ Marshall 1+0 Holding the Tigers’TTigh scoring center Charles Lutz to only 2 points, the Lancers started slowly and then built up a lead of 32 to 18 at half. After this the Tigers lost a lot of spirit and it seemed to be just a matter of how much difference there would be in the final score. Smith and Mikkelson again led the Lancer scoring with 21 and 18 points. The Lancers were honored by hsving three layers named to the All District Team----Mike Dunphy, Erv Mikkelson, and Ron Smith. REOIONAL TOWRNAMRW? Canby 1+7 Dawson 35’ Dawson started fast and led 9 to 2 at one time during the first period of play The Lancers then tied it up at 13 all, and from then on the champs never trailed. Ron Smith led the scoring with 17, being helped by Bones who hit the bucket for 12. Sundby had 15 for the losers. Canby 1+6 Redwood Falls 31 Led by Erv Mikkelson who rolled in 17 points, the Lancers won their way back to the state tournament with a 1+6 to 31 win over Redwood. At one point the score was 8 to 6 in favor of Redwood. The Lancers staged a spurt that carried them to a 22 to 9 lead and that, sewed up the game. Mike stole the ball, took the ball out of bounds, and called for time out before anyone knew what was happening. That was all for Hopkins. Erv made 9 out of 11 chances from the field and led the scoring with 19) Ron added 13. Porter and Tschimperle were outstanding for Hopkins. Canby 63 Brainerd 3h With another fabulous shooting exhibition by the Lancers hitting on k6% of their shots, the Lancers made easy work of the Warriors from Brainerd. Ron hit for 25, Mike 11, and Bones 9 to lead the Lancer scoring. Canby 52 Qilbert 69 Gilbert hit an amazing 65% of their shots and that was the whole story of the final game. Gilbert gained an early lead of 18 to 6. This was too much to make up and the closest the Lancers ever came was a 27 to 21 score midway in the second quarter. Richardson had 26 points for the Gilbert club. Erv, Bones, and Mike each had 10 for the Lancers. One of the outstanding things during the state tournament was the playing turned in by Ron Cole, who has never been given credit for the great ball player that he really is. Even though he never did score many points in his career he was outstanding in his defensive play and in his rebounding. The only boys who know how good he really is are the ones that v' ve played against him. Canby was honored by having one of its team members named to the All State Team-Ron Smith.
