Iivimms. r'1,nm-rly, The Band has improved, both in quality and quantity this year due to the addition of several new instruments and to the Cooperation of the band members themselves. lfarly in tht- year this group set as its goal the addition of new caps and drum majors' outfits to complete the uniforms started last year. To this end it sponsored a show and presented a very enjoyable concert. The goal was only partially reached with the addition of the drum majors' outfits which are being worn by fllarilyn Jeanne Schutz, Barbara Pitts, and lfunice Steffenson. The Hand participated in the State lland Contest at Corvallis on April 9 in Class ll. On llay 7 it represented the school at the Orchestra Festival at llilwaukie. As a belated feature of Klusic XVeelc, the Band presented a joint concert with the orchestra and vocal department on Klay 9. 0 A group which is entirely new this year is the High SCh00l Orchestra. This group was organized by fllr. Wleathers to meet the great need for some opportunity for those who play orchestral instru- ments to perform as an orchestra. This was made possible through the cooperation of the faculty in permitting orchestra members to be excused from classes one period a week on a rotation basis. In spite of hampering conditions the group made several creditable performances at plays. programs and on other occasions. lt also participated in the Band and Urchestra Festival held at Klilwaukie on Hay 9. It is hoped that next year this will become a permanent instrumental organization. 25

Q Canby lfnion High School is lcnown throughout the state for its beautifully landscaped school grounds. Not only to the students of Canby Lvnion High School are the well-kept grounds a source of pride, but also the members of the community. The taxpayers may well feel that they have received a satisfactory remuneration in an institution of learning which has received the recognition that we have received during the past few years. 8. Students at Canby Lfnion High School have set a high standard in general conduct throughout the past year. It was felt that a better system of regulating the conduct in the halls could be achieved by placing it into the bands of the students themselves. livery Senior class member served on Hall Duty, and by reporting any misconduct directly to the office, they helped to improve the courtesy in the halls. 81644 lfach year the graduating classes have presented the school with a useful and attractive gift. Klany of these gifts are everyday aids to the students who should associate each class with the token of service that it left behind for us to remember them by. In lflil the graduating class left the school the drink- illg fountain in f1'ont of the school. The Class of lfldl left us the clock in the auditorium, and the Class of V333 left us the bench and the weeping willow tree south of the school building. ln W3-l the Senior class presented the school with the bird bath. The Class of V935 bestowed upon the school ornaments for the auditorium: the Class of 1036, the curbing around the drive.
