Freshman Class Histor The Iireshman Class enrolled September 18 with 95 members. the largest in the history of the school. lit-tween that time and October 7 when the Sophomores gave them their first initiation they. same as all predecessors. wandered about the classrooms and halls in a much bewildered manner. soon to realize that the wheels of knowledge had begun to roll. XYith the initiation over. the Freshmen began their school activities by electing the following officers: President, Richard Melnmg Vice-President. Lyle lilinger: Secretary. Marie Dietz: Treasurer. Robert Colving Sergeant-at-Arms. Gordon Logan: Yell Leaders, -lime lllosser and .Xlfred Kraft. ln the annual Freshman-Sciphomore football game the Frosh, much to the surprise of everyone. broke the old established precedent by defeating the Soph- omores 0-0. The March Student Hody program was presented by the freshman members. and a large variety of ability was displayed. 'l'hey have taken part in most of the school activities and sports. Herbert liigej. Richard Tomlin. joe Fisher. Robert Colvin and Shirley Ritter were out- standing' as Rook football players. Gordon Logan and Richard Tomlin displayed much ability as basketball players with Logan making the first team squad. Howard Melvin represented the class in baseball. ln the early part of May a very enjoyable picnic was held at the Molalla River with baseball and swimming serving as the main entertainment. The Class was ably advised and assisted in its various activities during the school year by the Class advisors. Miss Gary, Mr. Pope. and Miss Vl'ight. ll4l
