Text from Pages 1 - 152 of the 1988 volume:

• T • V.M.t 5: • A TIME TO REMEMBER Yes, we must go, for we’re all grown, Now it’s our move: what will we prove? We’ve done our best, like all the rest 'Till there’s nothing left to do. We’re all done, we’ve had our fun; It’s time to try something new. All these memories will surely last. Memories of these years gone past. Now we must spread our wings and fly— Take off into the bright blue sky. Here and now we’ll face our friends Who think these great times never end. And though our friendships will fade into forever, This will always be A Time To Remember. Class of 1988 Presents Jr.-Sr. High School Canastota, NY A TIME TO REMEMBER Dedication Jr. High Supplement Administration and a Faculty Sports Seniors Underclassmen Activities A Time to Remember”—that is what our years at CHS have been. This book is a unique collection of friends, ideas, memo- ries, and events that show how our time in high school has ticked away. Now it is your turn to create your own memories and dreams. We, the Class of 1988, wish you the best. 2 1988 “Toot Dedication Whenever we need help, he’s there for us. Whether it’s before school, after school, or during study halls, he is always willing to help. He cares about each one of us and helps us discuss our problems. He hands out Candy Kisses before class, and gives us “pep talks every day to keep us going. And when we complain about our courses and the work load, he always rationalizes the situation and tells us a story of when he and Mr. Broga did this or that. He always makes his classes fun and that is what pulled us through. There has never been a more dedicated teacher, and we will miss him when we have graduated. And so, We, the Class of 1988, dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Douglas Wilbur. 3 4 GRANDFATHER CLOCK A D M I N I S T R A T I O N As the hours are our school years, The administration and faculty are always there, To teach us, guide us, and lead us all Like this clock, speaking loud and standing tall ADMINISTRA TION Vincent Albanese Superintendent Craig King Assistant Superintendent BOARD OF EDUCATION Margaret Peters; Eugene Pavone, President; Barbara Hopsicker; Vincent Albanese, Superinten- dent; Mary Fresina, Adm. You have all worked diligently to this end and should be proud of your accomplishments. You have shared with us many emotions, ranging from frustration to the joy of accomplishment. These memories will remain with you for many many years and will become the basis for lasting friendships. As you reach this milestone in your life and prepare to under- take new challenges, I trust that you will take with you those skills which you have mastered during your years at CHS. I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors and invite you to keep in touch with those members of the staff who have helped you attain your success. Garad Williams Principal Congratulations to the class of 1988. You are about to com- plete this segment of your schooling. For some, this will be the end of your formal education. For some, it is the begin- ning of further training and college. However, the learning process continues throughout your entire life. Hopefully, the lessons you have learned and the experiences you have gained, will better prepare you for the challenges of life that lie ahead. Learn from both your mis- takes and your successes. Good Luck. Roger Thompson Vice Principal My time with you was short lived, but the memories shall last forever. I have enjoyed being a part of your growing and learning process. May you strive to become the best you can be; achieving the goals you have set for yourselves. Your edu- cational years will serve as a foundation for each of you to realize your individual potential. Graduation is indeed an important milestone in one’s life but you need to continue to learn and grow—education is never-ending. OUR FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT A penny for your thoughts! “You look MARvelous!” Melissa and Joanne exclaim. I would like to introduce one of the newest members of our class; Laurence Moors. She is from Liege, Belgium, a town with a population five times that of Syracuse. Back home, she has a sister who is in her last year at a University, and both her parents are teachers. She has already graduated from high school, and volunteered for the Rotary exchange program in order to take additional courses, and of course, to travel. Her English is good but it wasn't good enough to get her through the airport without a lot of confusion. Since she has come to America she has had many adventures to write home about. Some of the more exciting things she found were Halloween, microwave popcorn, and believe it or not, chicken pox! This is not the first time she has left home. She has also been to Thailand, Africa, Mexico, Guatamala, and all over Europe. At home, she enjoyed scuba diving and tennis. At Canastota, she has made many friends playing volleyball, soccer, and softball. At the end of June, she will return home and enter college for a degree in Architecture. Laurence, on behalf of the graduating class of 1988, we were glad to have you and wish you the best of luck in all you do. 16 debbie maria tammy robert willy eric carl L. • r danni sally mary beth david t eric japes joe missy julie mike da ve anita 30 frenchy 31 SENIOR HISTORY Senior Class Officers V.
