I Heidi-Maria Rautionmaa Heidi Ystava on Elaman Suuri Lahja. Hei Vaan! I'm Heidi Rautionmaa (roll your R), and I come from Finland as a Rotary exchange student for one year. I'm getting new experiences and learning many new things. I found Canastota a very nice place and I learned to speak a little bit of English using my hands in the Italian way. I want to thank all of you who made my year so special. 1 just loved my stay here and my three host families were great. I'm sure I'm go- ing to miss you. It doesn't matter how far away you are, you'll always be part of my good memories. You never know how soon we might meet again. All of you are always welcome to my home in Finland. P.S. American food is a different story. I gained weight . . . but I had sooo much fun—even if I couldn't yodel or tend goats. With Love, Heidi 4

“The Library just won't be the same. Is Miss Martin really retir- ing? What do we remember of Miss Martin's thirty-six years of service to Canastota? Our parents remember someone always willing to chaper- one, always helpful, always ready to listen and talk. We remember the help in researching the dreaded term papers, the hours of help on yearbooks, the willingness to stay a little longer to let someone finish a report. We all remember a person who was interested in us, who shared anecdotes about her family with us, who frequently admonish- ed us for our misbehavior in the Library Media Center. We remem- ber libraries in six locations. (Miss Martin, do you remember moving the library five times?) Sailing Yes, Miss Martin is retiring and the Library just won't be the same. Good luck and enjoy your retire- ment! Into Retirement After twenty years in the offices of the Canastota Schools, Mrs. Benenati is retiring on April 30. We want her to know that we do appreciate the lectures and calls to the Guidance office to make us get our applications in on time and to give her our Social Security num- bers. She played mother hen to all of us and kept at us until we did what was required. We are sure she will be missed. Mrs. Benenati, we wish you a long and happy retirement!
