LETTERS TO THE CLASS OF 1986 You must face the challenge of determining your own futures. Your success must be measured by your ability to become all that you are capable of becoming. Your future can be created and actualized by your ac- tion or inaction. You must apply your gifts and talents, work with dedication and self-discipline, have high expectations for yourself and convert every chal- lenge into an opportunity. You must utilize the academic and social skills you have developed at Canastota Junior-Senior High School to meet the challenges of the future. Craig King, Principal Mr. Craig King There has been much emphasis regarding educational excellence during recent years and its importance in strengthening our schools as well as our society. As a newcomer to Canastota this year, I have observed and participated in that striving for excellence. I have observed the fact that we have the ways and means to build a better society, a stronger America, a future for our world. You, the seniors of Canastota Central Schools, are charged with the responsibility of carrying out that task, and you can do it and do it well. It pleases me to see the class of 1986 embark on their journey to fulfill life's dreams. Some of those dreams aren't even thoughts as yet, while others are just forming and still others are in their infant stage. Life holds a multitude of opportunities and challenges for each of you. Be all that you can be; and what- ever you do, in word or deed, do it to the best of your ability. Jeffrey A. Davis, Assistant Principal Mr. Roger Thompson Mr. Jeffrey Davis Let each become all he is capable of being. Each of you has a particular set of abilities and talents. Life is a set of challenges. Your challenge is to develop your talents and abilities to their fullest. As an educa- tor, it is most satisfying to see students begin to reach their potential while in school. As years pass, it is most gratifying to read or hear of former students' ac- complishments. Strive to reach your dreams. Take responsibility for your future. You are tomorrow's citizens and leaders. In my opinion, our future is in good hands. My per- sonal wishes go out to each of you for future success and happiness. Roger E. Thompson, Administrative Intern 9
