Canastota, We just thought that we should take a moment to explain our theme and the reason that we chose it. Once upon a time you were small, people came and the land that you offered helped them grow. They worked hard and they were always determined to make you better. You profited from this hard work and strove to make the land and its people proud of you and your accomplishments. The land was the wealth—it sup- ported, it educated, it defined our heritage. The thread of that heritage was carried down through the generations. We are proud of that heritage and we must never forget all that you are. As we grew from small infants to seniors at CHS, you helped us to learn, to live, to love and to laugh. Without that help our lives would be very much different than what they are now. We are grateful to you. As we go our separate ways, we realize just how much you mean to us. As you taught us to be ourselves, we’ve learned to love you like a friend. Wherever we go, a memory of you and the things that you stand for will always be with us. Thank you Canastota for all that you are. The Class of ’79 5
