The Red Raiders under the leadership of Coach James Shreve posted a 44 overall record and a 4-2 record in league play. Losses came only to league champions Cazenovia and an always tough Onieda team. The Red Raiders started their season with a win over V. V. S. but the high point of the season came with an exceptional victory over Chit- tenango. There were two new happenings this year. Clinton was new comer to the league and the Raiders played all their games away due to con- struction. The team with its great senior leadership and school support finished a respectful second in the Tri-Valley League. Congratulations men! 54 J.V. Football 1st Row: B. Finocchiaro, H. Mason, M. Both CHS and arch rival Oneida were unbeaten going into the final game, with Oneida holding all previous opponents scoreless. The Raiders proved why they were No. 1 in offense in ripping the Indians 3-0 and playing tough defense. The Raiders possessed three first team all-stars in juniors Edie O’Hara, Tina Lucarelli and Sue Verno. Edie was the League’s leading scorer, followed by teammate Tina “Luke”. Sue was the mainstay on the Raider defense that helped the Raiders post several shutouts. Lise Barley and Lori Burke were each recognised as honorable mention all-stars. For the second straight year the Raiders qualified for sectionals, only to bow to Fayetteville-Manlius in the first round, 0-0, losing on pentration time. It is noteworthy that CHS concluded the season with a 12-0-2 over- all record, the second best record in section 3, only second to Class A power Auburn. 58 Soccer 1st Row: P. Todora, B. Mulford, J. Coach Dimao is in a rebuilding process and is hoping to improve on last year’s humiliating record. Torna tore Varsity The 1 977 Varsity baseball team will be looking to improve on last year’s me- diocre season. Under coach Bob Borgo- gnoni, the Raiders compiled a 6-8 league record while finishing 9-1 2 overall. Returning to form the nucleus of the team will be six lettermen, five seniors and a junior. Those seniors being Jim Tornabenc, John Aquino, John Borgo- gnoni, Jim Coleman and Pete Todora. The lone junior returnee being Dale Tifft. Also, Dave Niles and Chip I ratini up from the J.V. should help bolster the team. The season of 1976 provided many exciting moments and if it hadn’t been for a couple of tough last inning loses, Canastota might have had another Tri- Valley League title. The year of 1977 should be a good one and the Canastota Red Raider Varsity Baseball team has high hopes of finishing near the top, if not on top. J.V. 1st Row: F. Somers, M. Kilts, S. Tomatore, C. Jt’s sometimes hard to describe a driend (each one's different), you're easy—someone fun to be with because the old days and the new days are all made brighter by a friend like you. Mow good it is that J can drop in unexpectedly when you’re in the middle of a thousand thoughts and you always have time to stop, to make me welcome, to care J’oe come and if you stop by, a so-so day becomes a super day. Somehow laughter comes easy when we talk, and cares oanish in the remembering of good times together. Jt seems we met just yesterday but that J’ve always known you that we’ve always been friends and like the forget-me-nots J’ll remember you always. Advisors-Mrs. Amolia Grossman, Miss Pat Dixon, Miss Helen Martin Yearbook 1977 Editors-1st Row: Chris Einocchiaro (typing), Linda Mulford (co-editor) 2nd Row: Eva Busck (co-editor), Lori Burke (layout), Donna Mariano (literary) 3rd Row: Kurt Kohlcs (sports), Paul Farfaglia (sports), Joe Powers (photography) Contributors-1st Row: Carol Roberts, Tami Davis 2nd Row: Liz Bell, Kirsten, Janice Romagnoli To All Interested: The yearbook is supposedly an enjoyable class project, but it somehow turned into a hectic task of very few. On Moving Up Night 1976, many people were given pleasure by being granted a position towards OUR 1977 yearbook. Everyone seemed quite thrilled with their new title but few people lived up to the responsi- bilities that went with that title. Now that this book is completed I hope no one has any ill feelings over the fact that not many people participated in putting our book together. It is the job of the individual editors to get their staff together. If the editor doesn’t get his or her staff together, then no one gets involved. I hope that the majority of people love this book as much as I do. We tried dif- ferent things-some of them you will like, some you won’t. You can’t imagine the job of capturing memories and attempting to put them down on paper. Impossi- bility seems to set in. I’d like to thank Carol Roberts and Donna Mariano for the extra time they put in. Without them the job probably would have been unbearable.
