At least, the advertisements tell you where you can get something that is really good. To profit from good advice requires far more wisdom than to give it. I do not wish to give advice but there are certain fundamental principles and moral laws which govern our lives and the happiness and success of our existence depends upon our recognition of these truths. Thereis no particularly worth while substitute for plain hard work. Work is the great disciplinarian of the race. It brings contentment, peace of mind, and the re- wards of accomplishment. It is the easiest way man has ever invented to escape bore- dom, There is no such thing as security, social or otherwise. President Dwight D. Eisen- hower has said, The best example of perfect social security is a man serving a life term in the federal penite.ntiary . We are our own security and we alone. As we are, as we think, and as we do, - these make our life, our future, and our security. We make mistakes, you, me everyone, We learn by our errors. Experience is a marvelous thing. It enables you to recognize a mistake whenever you make it again, A man may fall several times but he isn't a failure until he starts saying somebody pushed him. Do not be afraid to make a mistake. Now, in that particular sentence, please remember just the first four words Do not be afraid , ever, of anything, True, you cannot help feeling afraid sometimes. That is normal. Everyone has moments of fear and trepidation. But true courage will push you through, over and beyond your obstacle into the clear light of success and accomplishment. It may be only a mental hurdle. a personality difficulty in the dark recess of your own mindg but you will be stronger for having met it and beaten it down. And last but not least. Don't discourage easily. Try not to be depressed. When down in the mouth, remember Jonah. He came out all right. Dayton E. Murray Principal A 'fl 'i-J DEDICATIO We, the Senior Class of 1954, would like to dedicate this publication of The Chieftain to Mr. Churchill and Mr. Cody. They have helped the years in high school be more pleasant, but yet giving us the full value of high school that will help us in years to come. x f 1 .7 , Rx 5 9' ' 9 al 3 sue 'y if ' ' 5 aff? if- 32 ' 4 V lzninri- Z .. , ' ,ww DV' X aj 11' jgfcbfvvgf we 1 A :JJJMBA fox, ju A , Di h A' ,u'r, om? mmi - J -5-pfak M-3 , r - - - - - - - - - -I - - - - 3 ' C110 A' 1 - - - -- - - - -Lisa,--2,3,4 ess -'- ' 5 - - - -f- ---- - - - - 4 ' P - - - - --------- - - - 4 ' ,ibr ry un - - ------------ - -1,2 'SV a11--- - ------------- ---1,2 -CV' ., ' arribbea .' 0f'if7e3iJZ NANCY BUTLER oy! p!,f Let's get ' 't I Girls' Basketball ------- - - - - - - - - 1 , ,4 Chorus--- - - -- -- -1 -- -- ,3,4 Weretra-- --- - ---- -- -- -2 Junior Prom mitt - -- -- --9------3 seniorplay ----- - -- -- '7 Junior Play ---- ----- - - - - - - PressC1ub-----' --- - -- -- --- -4 Library Council - Zip? - - - -- ---- - - - - - 1 Cafeteria Staff - -'- - - - - - - - - -Gp ,2 4-H Club ------ - , - ---- - - - -w- 1 .rj s f Let me be the e A ' f O C 1 BARBARA CAR S '21 B b uf '.-fic if fPx i57'i'fE11f'1.A-fx' WZ- ar 'Q ef A W 'VVIXP he'Sd1eaXng,.- -J, -.pf-C 3. ----3,4 Chogk' - 1 - - -if ?.2-f--.--6.-ef,-' ----- 13,4 3 -M Ulf- -v,'f--0f - ...... --- ,11151111 ,11,Wq,1,W1r1f2 ..e. ww wwf -+ 6'-Jf ---- w--- Ylffess glulx v,:M 'QJ04' ' VL' ' 5-4 ' ' ' ' ' ' 4 1551113111 wif ,wiv 02 .... ..... - - -31 L h.Y55g'Gi9ci1'f - GX- - ---- ----- - - - 1.2 Gir gui ygam -Q8 ------ - - - - - 1,2,3 Girls' ghetball ---- - - - - - - 1,2 Girls' Soccer - ------ ----- - - - 1.2 That's Amora 1 dddgiljjia gg, W ?
