Education does not mean teaching people to know what they do not know. It means teaching them to behave as they do not behave. The trouble with the world is the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent full of doubt. You now have the equipment to shape and mould your future as you will. You have the tools of learning and the fundamental knowledges necessary for your future life. You can build as you see fit. Be sure that you build well. Your character--what you are down inside--what you think and what you like and dislike--is the key to the rest of your life and your future peace of mind. As you think--so are you. Think high, think nobly, think clean. Then back up your thought with action and hard work. You know, work is the easiest way man has ever-invented to escape boredom. There is no cure for laziness, but a large family helps. No horse gets anywhere until he is harnessed. No steam or gas ever drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated and disciplined. DAYTON E. MURRAY Principal We the Senior class of 1953 wish to dedicate this edition of the Chieftain to Mr. Murray our Principal, who has given us his continued guid- ance and constant services throughout our mem- orable school years. I if L., 'Y Q K And to Mr. Barocco we wish to express our deep- est appreciation for his continued friendship and inspiration he has given us.
