THE CHIEFTAIN Fifth Grade M I .There were originally forty-two of us, but after the first week, we vyere divided into sections. Our section had twenty-two pupils. Robert Sullivan moved to Nunda and Margaret Stein to Dansville. ln February, Ronald Mess joined us. We had parties at Hallowe'en, Christmas, St. Valentines Day and Easter. ln February, we put on our Assembly Program, Abe Lincoln and His Moth- erf' ln March we organized a Junior Audubon Club. to study birds. ln May, we had our grade trip to Letchworth Park, where we saw the home of Mary Jemison, the White VVoman of the Genesee, and Museum there. Sixth Grade In September we started school with 35 in our class. During the year Wilma Neale, James Kiley, Merle Nye, Gerald Sullivan and Charles Stephens deft us. Alice Ordiway came to join us in December. Now we have just 30 in our grade. Fifth Grade Bl Our grade was formed from the 5th grade downstairs, after the second week of school. One of the high school rooms was given over to us to live in. We organized a Science Cluh with Roger Morris as president, Dorothy Hubbard as vice-president, and Carl Serusa as secretary. A Current Events club hrings articles of interest to class each week and cares for our bulletin hoard. We have made several hoolilets through the school year in, connection with our social studies, English, and art classes. I Our assembly program consisted of a patriotic play, In Washingtonls Footsteps and a choral reading on Lincoln and the l3ird.sf' We presented this program in conjunction with the other 5th grade. 30
