plq THE CHIEFTAIN Glass Histo-ry A It was in September, 1943, that our present Senior class entered Cana- seraga Central School as Freshmen. There were 17 of us and during this year we were under the supervi- sion of Nr. Newhill. At our first meeting we elected Alton Sleggs, Presi- dent, Duane Broughton, Vice-Presidentg Marion Wampole, Secretarygalane Reynard, Treasurer: Ruth Mehlenbacher and Phil Karr, Student Council Rep: resentatives. During this year we enjoyed two movies at Hornell and a picnic at Stony Brook. In our Sophomore year we elected the following officers: Phil Karr President: Milton Hubbard, Vice-Presidentg Marion Wampole, Secretary and Treasurer? Student Council Representatives, Vera Sommens and Olaf Gates. We enjoyed a number of parties that year under the supervision of Mrs. Spader. During our Junior year we were more active. We had as our advisor, Mr. Gamble. At our first meeting' we elected the following officers: Mil.ton Hubbard, Presidentg Ida Willitt, Vice-President: Jane Reynard. Secretary: Vera Sommers, Treasurerg Roberta Wentworth and Vere Coombs, Student Council Representatives. We sponsored two square dances, which helped us both financially and otherwise. The biggest event of the year was our Jun- ior Prom on May 17. We also attended a show at ,Hornell and at the end of the year we had a picnic at Roseland Park -on Canardaiguw L-Ike. We also received our Senior rings in June. In our Senior year our advisor was Miss Nancy Fee. We elected the following officers: Ruth Mehlenbacher, Prcsidentg Vere Coombs. Vice-Presi- dent: Olaf Gates. Secretary: Vera Sommers. Trersurerg Alei'-la Leach and Milton Hubbard, Stu-dent Council Representatives. Orur first feature of the year was a movie at Hornell. The one square dance we sponsored proved verv profitable. During' the month of February. we had a sleigh-ride at Vera Sommers'. Later in the evening games and refreshments were enjotyed by all. The Senior Play Gabriel ,Blow Your Horn was pre.sented March 21st in the school gym, under the direction of Nancy Fee. Two other activities are being awaited. The Serior Class is planning a trip to Crystal Beach sometime in June. The Liters ture Club. composed er- tirely of Seniors, is having its final dinner and entertainment at Mrs. Atcrs home at Penn Yan, N. Y., the Saturday before graduation. . up 1 , if . ti . ' A R .
