At the close of last year we elected the following officers for 1954-1955: Rodney Wildermuth, president, Carl Heister, vice president, Jack Vance, secretary, Byron Miller, treasurer, David Getz, reporter, Wilbur Barnhart, sen- tinel, Mike Hockman, student advisor. In June we entered the State Judging Contest with ten teams participating. The team composed of Rodney Wildermuth, Bob Jepsen, and Larry Haughn received first place in Land Judging, Bob Jepsen received first in-the Sheep and Wool Contest. Raymond Poff and Joe Barnhart ranked first in Poultry. David Getz, John Busey, and Marlin Shoemaker attended F. F. A. Camp in August. August also brings the time to get ready for state and county fairs, All boys having livestock projects entered in these fairs. Rodney Wildermuth received the highest amount of winnings at this time. In September, which is a very busy month, we got ready for our new projects and State and county activities. We helped the Y. F. A. and Adult Farmers in the 100 Bushel Corn Club of corn per acre. Rodney Wildermuth, Carl and Noel Heister, and Byron Miller from our chapter belong to this Club. The Public Speaking Contest was held in February. Mike Hockman and Byron Miller entered in this contest. Both received a gold medal rating. laflarch 5 was the Little Livestock Show at Ohio State University. The boys participating in this contest received thir place. ' This has been a very successful year and even now we are looking forward to doing better things next year. Page Sponsors DR. O. W. A. has had a very successful year under the following officers which were elected last year: President, Molly Mason, Vice President, Catherian West, Secretary, Dorothy Smith, Treasurer, Theo Coleman, Corresponding Secretary, Sheila Thornton,Reporter, Beverly Montague, Historian, Nancy Mason, Parliamentarian, Pat Stotler, Stu- dent Council, Doris Crabbs, Chapter Mother, Mrs. George Mason, Honorary Member, Jeanette Schneider, and Advisor, Mrs. Steube. During the Ohio State Fair we had a booth which was entitled, 'Are You Wise About Chair Buys? We received a first place for this, The week of October 31 through November 6 was National F. H, A, Week, During this week we gave flowers to the teachers, decorated the bulletin board, did something to help around the home, did something around the school, and dressed up, each on a different day. The F, H. A. as a Christmas project this year went to the Alum Crest Home. There we sang Christmas Carols and distributed candy to the patients. We sponsored two dances this year with the F, F. A, The first was the Semi-Formal Dance in December, the other was a Square Dance in February. The one big event of the year was the F. H. A. and F. F. A, Parent Banquet held in March. At this time we en- tertained our parents and friends. Awards are given at this time to the girls who have worked for their degrees. The girls who received degrees are: Junior Homemaker--Linda Conkle, Lorene Magee, and Judy Fogle, Chapter Home- maker--Marie Warga, Patti Blais, Barbara Schultz, and Donna Mason, State Homemaker--Doris Crabbs, Pat Stotler, and Molly Mason. The last event that our Chapter will hold is a special meeting in May for seniors at which time we will have in- stallation of the new officers. We wish for them a very successful year. In September, Wilbur Barn- hart and Jim North, accompanied by Mr. Roshon and Mr. Schultz, attended the First Annual Hi-Y - Tri-Hi-Y Program Planning Camp held at Camp Wilson. Mr. Glaze Thompson was the speaker at our induction ceremony. Our parents were also guests. The club sold athletic cushions and basketball schedule pencils as fund- raising projects. The Hi-Y and Y-Teens enjoyed a New Year's Eve party held in the school gymnasium. ' ' . In January, the Hi-Y and T-Teens conducted the Wishing Well downtown at which nearly S150 was collected for the March of Dimes. In February, Larry Doan and Jim North attended the Pre-legislative Con- ference at Dennison University. The Conference was a training program for the Y. M. C. A. Model Legislature which will be held at the Capitol building in April. As a project in March, we sold salt-water taffy for World Service Week. The profit from the candy was donated to the World Service Program of the Y M. C. A. The annual cherry pie-ice cream social was also held in March. This was another joint party with the Y-Teens. It was held at the home of Jo- anne Friend and was enjoyed by all. if The Hi-Y has an excellent purpose, and we hope that its motto, To Create, Maintain, and Extend High Standards of Christian Character'f, will continue to be an important part of our school.
