DILL, GENERAL CONTRACTOR 22 ' 'W' ' -- ff - ,-,.......... - ..........., Our junior year started with a money-making project, a Wheel of Fortune, at the Street Fair in July. The money made was added to the treasury with the ultimate goal of the Junior-Senior Banquet in mind. We sold candy every day at noon during the first se- mester. We also had the concession stand at the football games where we sold hot dogs, coke, hot chocolate, and can- dy. The second week of school we ordered our class rings from the Josten Company and anxiously awaited the day when we could wear them. The rings arrived just before Christ- mas. During Christmas vacation our class took on the project of sanding and repainting the desks in one of the grade school rooms. In February, we sponsored a skating party which was held at the Lancaster Arena and a swimming party which was held at the Y.M.C.A. in Columbus. Now we are making plans for the Junior-Senior Banquet which will be held at llonka's Provincial House on April 23. We are in the midst of selecting a class play which will be given in May. This year the class officers have been: Larry Doan, Presidentg Lois Carpenter, Vice President, Evelyn Wilder- muth, Secretary, Betty Morris, Treasurer, Rodger Marion, Sherry Hoover, and Joe Barnhart, Student Council Repre- sentativesg and Beverly Montague, Tax Stamp Chairman. Our football and basketball attendants were Lois Car- penter and Betty Morris respectively. Their escorts were Howard Solt and John Sanders. We would like to give our deepest vote of appreciation to Mrs. Hatlestad and to Mr. Roshon who have done a wonder- ful job as our advisors this year. We thoroughly enjoyed our first class activity which was a hayride and wiener roast at Griffith's woods. The largest money-making project that our class has under- taken since we entered high school was the Spaghetti Supper that we had in December. The supper increased our class treasury as well as our knowledge of making money. During the latter part of the school year the class members sold School Daze books. The class chose Donna Sue Chaney to represent them in the Football Homecoming Court and Barbara Schultz in the Basket- ball Court. Their escorts were Dick Loucks and Bob Wynkoop respectively. Throughout the year the class members have gained more knowledge and made new friends. Everyone in the class wishes to thank the members of the faculty for their patience and understanding. Our first vague recollection of the year was the conduction into High School. This was carried on under the supervision of the lordly Seniors. That one uncomfortable day shall not b'e forgotten for some time. ' Our next memorable occasion was ahayride to Adel Smith's home where a wiener roast followed the journey. A photograph- er was included in the guests much to the dismay of the occu- pants of one of the trucks. Mud puddles and disappearing people were other high lights of the evening. A slight rain on the way home even failed to dampen our spirits. The third social event of the year was a skating party held on the 7th of March at the Rollarena. If you will pardon the pun it was declareda rolling success. Our final undertaking of the year was a rag drive to obtain funds for a future trip to Washington. We were ably advised through out the year by Mr. Johnson. The freshman class of '54-'55 extends their sincerestthanks to him for his fine assistance. Perhaps no more important but certainly the project which received the most publicity was the one completed by junior and senior girls, members of typing classes, who addressed 1,500 Christmas Seal letters, stuffed them, and sealed and stamped them for the local Christmas Seal Committee. We are indebted to the COLUMBUS DISPATCH and to the Tuberculosis Society of Columbus and Franklin County for the pictures which depict the girls at work at various phases of the project. Statue of the raising of the flag over Iwo Jima. if The Freshmen and Sophomore years of the 1955 graduating class were un- eventful compared to the busy Junior and Senior years. Our Freshmen year we elected Rodney Wildermuth president, Ronnie Fridley vice president, Paul Trogus secretary, and Carl Heister treasurer. Not long after our usual initiation into high school, we had a delightful time having a hay ride and wiener roast at Kay Thomas'. It was this year that we chose Gail Murphy and Janet Fridley attendants for Football and Basketball respectively. During our Sophomore year we began to realize the need for money. We decided to sell pennants. This idea brought us little profit but gave us a good experience in learning to work together for one purpose. We elected Carl Heister president, Rodney Wildermuth vice president, Paul Trogus treasurer, and Pat Stotler secretary. This year Madelyn Samples and Lois Magee were our Football and Basket- ball Attendants respectively. At the beginning of the next year we elected our officers. They were Rod- ney Wildermuth president, Jane Zaayer vice president, Lois Magee secretary, and Molly Mason treasurer. We were all very busy making money for the Junior-Senior Banquet to be held in May. One of our first money making projects was selling candy at noon to students for one semester. Other ways was the skating party and selling candy at Christmas time. In the first part of May we held our class play which brought in a lot of money. It was Cheaper By The Dozen which was a big success. Everyone in it and that saw it liked it very much. After all these projects were through we held the big Junior-Senior Banquet at the Fort Hayes Hotel in Columbus. Following the banquet was a dance for those not too full to dance. At 3 o'c1ock there was a breakfast served in the Municipal Building at Lithopolis for those that were still awake. The climax of our Junior year was the serving of the Alumni Banquet where we made quite a bit of money for our Senior trip. Our officers for the Senior year were elected and they were James North president, Madelyn Samples vice president, Lois Magee secretary, and Molly Mason treasurer. The big events of our Senior year were Class Play, The Little Dog Laughed , Steak Supper, selling Christmas Cards and all occasion cards, selling candy and subscription to magazines, collecting salestax stamps, and hay ride and wiener roast at Carl Heister's chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. McQuillen. To spend all the money we made during our three years we published a year book as you have seen, and to climax it all our Senior Class Trip to Washington, New York, and Niagara Falls. The trip as you have already heard was a big success and everyone enjoyed it tremendously. We hope that all future classes that take this trip will enjoy it as much as we did. This concludes the year book, and with all the work we have put into it we hope that you have enjoyed it. 75 74452: Me 77qeen4a4 few Md gem, 9664.
