FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA During the past year the F. F. A. Chapter entered many educational events and really had an active year. Five members of the Canal Winchester F. F. A. Chapter and their adviser attended the twentieth National Convention in Kansas City last fall. At this convention much was learned of the F. F. A. activities and the messages carried back to the local chapter made it much stronger. For ten consecutive years, the chapter has rated gold medal in Ohio. Richard Wolfram and Lloyd Solt were elected to the State Farmer degree thus making a total of thirty-eight State Farmers in the chapter. Gold medal ratings were won in the Chapter Procedure Contest. This is also the tenth consecutive year for this award. Seven teams participated in the State judging contest and all placed high in the State. The annual F. F. A.-F. H. A. Banquet and Community Fair were the largest ever in the history of the department. A special scrap drive was conducted last fall and earned over 3300. Special meetings were held on conservation, health, leadership, and safety. Second place in the state was won on the F. F. A. Education booth at the Ohio State Fair and over 3100 in other events. Three seniors took the Agricultural Scholarship examination. Six boys received special awards in excellence achieved in project accounting, pest hunt, ton litters, and other activities. The boys picked bushels of apples, purchased and sold hybrid seeds, and started a registered Duroc Jersey Gilt chain. Contributions amounting to about S30 were made to Community Chest, Red Cross, March of Dimes and State F. F. A. Camp. We sincerely feel that every activity participated in by the F. F. A. Chapter mem- bers has not only been educational, but interesting, and a help to all in becoming estab- lished in life.
