Under the leadership of the president, Roger Hanners, the club enjoyed a good year. Early in October one of the largest groups of juniors ever to enter the club at one time was initiated. One of the outstanding services of the Hi-Y to the school was the sponsorship ,of monthly Ministers' Assemblies throughout the year. During Holy Week, the Club are ranged for daily asemblies by the local ministers. In january, the Hi-Y sponsored the local March of Dimes campaign and col- lected nearly S200 at The Wishing Well on the corner of Waterloo and High Streets. Delegates from the club attended county and district meetings at Columbus and at Zanesville. Richard Snyder was chairman of the Franklin County organization. ln February, the Tri-Hi-Y joined with the boys in a Cherry Pie a la Mode social affair. After the regular business meetings which were held separately, the boys and girls combined for an evening of recreation and refreshments. On March 16, Good Citizenship Day, Roger Hanners, jerry Hummel, and Charles Moore spent the day in Columbus, the guests of the County Commissioner, the,Prose- cutor, and the,Citizen Court Reporter, respectively. Two outstanding assemblies were brought to Canal Winchester through the efforts of the Hi-Y. One in October featured ceramic artists and the one in March was Sam Grathwell, noted F. B. FRANKLIN HONOR SOCIETY The membership of the Franklin Honor Society is composed of junior and senior students who rank in the upper one-third of their respective classes. This is a county organization with representatives from all schools in Franklin County. The group meets twice a year for initiation of new members and a social get-together. TRI-HI-Y Our Tri-Hi-Y Club had sixteen members this year. We had on an average one meeting a month in which we would have a business meeting, refreshments, and a social hour. This year we also earned some money by making basketball lapel pins which we sold at the basketball games. Our officers for the year were Lola Simpson and joan Coleman, co-presidents, Patty Hart, secretary, Marilyn Benson, treasurer, and Donnajean Oyler, chaplain. FUTURE HOMEMAKERS OF AMERICA The Canal Winchester Chapter received an Award of Merit from the Ohio As- sociation of Future Homemakers of America for outstanding work in the local chapter. The chapter was also active at County, State, and National levels. Joan Coleman was president of the Franklin County F. H. A. Marjorie Smith was treasurer of the State Association and received the State Homemaker degree. She was also one of the three voting delegates from Ohio to the hrst national F. H. A.
