Dush under whose able direction the traditional Freshman weiner roast was held at l:ineFroclc's orchard. As Sophomores and seasoned veterans oF high school life we wel- comed our classmates From Manchester who have accompanied us through our remaining high school years. A weiner roast was held at l-ligh Mill Park. The Fall ol: 36 ushered in numerous activities that we as Juniors engaged in. With Mr. putlienberger as our new sponsor our weiner lirazzle was held at the high school. Our Junior play, Behind the News , was a grand success and the Junior-Senior Banquet ranlced as the Finest in the history ol: the school. Then came the dawn of our last year of high school lite. Our weiner roast was held at Bob Clay's Farm, our Senior Play was pro- duced, our annual edited, and graduation plans laid. A perfect climax was provided by the Juniors grand Banquet. And now with graduation Fouryears of happiness and enjoyment of high school lite will be concluded, but not the Friendships and memories, For they will linger on Forever. The justifica- tion For such, is ir the opportunities they provide students to meet and exercise honorable traits of char- acter. Desirable self-expression in its various forms is essential to social, mental and spiritual growth. A well balanced, properly controlled and efficiently applied extra-curricular program is a natural means oF securing desirable sell:-expression. lt may talre place as a result of action on the gridiron or hardwood court, in music, literary, dramatics or Forensic competition or it may emerge through participation in club wor' and class leadership, yet each desirable activity becomes an agency that tends to provide the parti- cipant with a maximum opportunity and necessary experience to help develop special abilities and specific personalities. The choice ol: an avocational pursuit for whiling away leisure hours may become a vocational activity in lilieg the interests aroused, knowledge acquired and slrills developed in extra-curricular participation may lead to specialization in new and worthy Fields. The game of today may be the career of tomorrow, the imagination of the present may be a reality of the Future, and the novice in childhood days may be the budding genius of later life. I-II-Y Today Mr. l-leim is our club advisor and has served in that capacity since l933. Although the club en- gages in social activities, it is intent upon the support and improvement of our school and community. Along this line and in cooperation with the Girl Reservesg baslcets containing Food and clothing were dis- tributed during the Christmas season. A picture show and chapel discussion was held at the high school dealing with the temperance problem. During the school year a series oF twelve dancing lessons was spon- sored by the Hi-Y Club. LIBRARY Who is it who helps us out when we,just, must Find the liFe history oF a centipede, the name oi: Caes- ar's Mother or the population ol: Bulgaria? The librar- ians oF ccurse--those Faithful souls who must guess what bool: we want, when we only know the author's First name. lt's their duty to keep track ol: the 30 papers and magazines which circulate each period, the IOO boolcs which leave the library each day and more than that, they must appease the little youngsters From the grade school who just can't wait another day to read Mrs, Peter Rabbit . For their patience, their accuracy and their willingness to help, let's give them a vote ol: thanlcsl GIRL RESERVES The Girl Reserve is an organization For girls of high school age which is fostered by the Y.W.C.A. It purpose is the development of Christian womanhood and the enrichment of personal and social living. Our club was organized in l932 and has a membership of twenty-Four. Speakers both instructive and inspirational have assisted us in our programs this past year. ORATORY TEAM The Oratory team members under the direction of their coach, Mr. Lutz, have made a splendid record For themselves regardless of the Fact that neither received First place. Alan Hobbs, one member of the team, lost by the vote of one judge, and Ada Jean White, the other member, lost out in the Finals. Both, we can say, did theirhvery best, 'and deserve all the credit given to them. Mr. Puttenberger came to us three years ago and as a result ot his eiiiiorts, Canal l:ulton's music department is one ot the most outstand- ing in Starlc County. l-le has so arranged a schedule ol: lessons that students receive individual instruction each weelc. Under his guidance the orchestra and glee clubs have become industrious organizations, whose splendid perliormances are an evidence of his capability and a source ot pride to the school. Who needs to mention the Band! lts well-ordered drills in those uniiiorms are only contributory to a lceener appreciation ot the excel- lence of the music they play. Surely Canal Fulton is most Fortunate to have a director so able, a teacher so diligent and a gentlemen so Fine in this most worth-while department. l-le has truly been an inspiration to us all. BAN D Fulton's band of 60 members has today developed into the greatest organization ol: its kind that Canal Fulton High has ever known. The remarkable performance and marching ability that has been devel- oped in these boys and girls has been evident at our Football and basketball games throughout the year. Not conFining itself only to its marching Feats and home appearances, the band appeared at the Stark County Fair, P. T. A. Fair, the Spring Music Concert and various other activities. Enough cannot be said in appreciation of this organization For iz has not only gained recognition from the townspeople and sur- rounding communities, but has been praised throughout our part of the state. ORCHESTRA The orchestra, made up of I-AO young musicians,is nearing the end of another very successful season. Not only has their quality ot performance been outstanding, but they have added new members and new instru- ments to the organization, greatly enchancing its possibilities. dnder the able direction of Mr. Puffenberg- er, the orchestra rendered the musical setting For our three high school plays and their Christmas numbers provided the body ot our Christmas program. The seniors espe:ially want to thank all orchestra members for their invaluable participation at the Baccalaureate serxices as vxell as Commencement. GLEE CLUB The Glee Club pictured here, a group ol: sixty mixed voices, has met throughout the year as a regular curricular activity. Mr. Putfenberger has not only developed a chorus that has proven itself very eFFicient at accompanied singing, but has an organization that is equally adept at a capella, or unaccompanied work. This is not even undertaken in many high schools throughout the state. The appearance ol: the club at P.T.A. meetings and the Spring Music Concert has won For them wide acclaim. The appreciation ol: their eliforts and resulting quality of behavior and perliormance at both the Christmas program and the Bacca- laureate service cannot be Fully expressed by mere words.
