Foreword ,gg , 4 ,C iff The world today is caught up in a whirl of inter- national strife, super-sophistication, startling scien- tific breakthroughs, and everyday tensions and worries. With the outlook changing so constantly, we find ourselves wondering from day to day what kind of ax 3-4 Qs Ybisx Yi wk KA, W life the future will bring. People are beginning to realize the need for an escape from the rising ten- sions, tremendous pressures, and extremely complex problems of our twentieth century world. How can we break the barriers posed by race, creed, and color? How can we find peace of mind? No one seems able to find a definite answer, but perhaps one relatively simple solution is . . . music. Music may be the missing link in the chain which binds humanity. It is a treasure that anyone can possess, and the most wonderful thing about it is that it is always there giving hope to the hopeless and joy to the sorrowful. Music offers us the one thing that we seldom find time to enjoy - serenity. It is heard in the carefree song of the birds, in the wind whistling through lofty tree-tops, or in the pure un- restrained laughter of the child. Truly, the earth is alive with the sound of music. As it is the only organization of its kind in Mont- gomery County, we are proud to say that Canajoharie has been exposed to the culture only an orchestra can give. As young adults we realize the need for participation in one of our finer arts - music. Thank you for your guidance, your devotion, and most important, your great achievement.
