The lirsl' year of our lour, direcled by Norman Cornell, proved fo be one of enioymenl more lhan work. Of course. we did nol cover a very large parl of our iourneyg bul we did derive a genuine pleasure from lhal year on wheels. When school opened again in Seplember of I936. we decided 'ro conlinue our journey wilh George Slory advising us as +o poinls of inleresl. As in The year before lhis, we saw only pleasure: for as yel we did nol 'wish lo sl'op al any place where we would need aid. However. our 'rhird year on lhe road proved 'ro be quile diliferenl-we had sellled down lo realize 'rhal' life cannol be all pleasure. Again we changed guides. and conlinued under lhe advice of Miss Helen Jackson. We sold Jell-o. and magazines. sponsored an Easfer Ball wi'l'h lhe Senior Class, and inviled Sir Felix Korum, 'rhe magician, lo visil our school. Thus, we were found facing lhe lasl piece of our iourney a bil reluclanlly. We realized 'lhal all loo soon 'rhis lasl year would slip from our grasp, and only a scanly remains would belong 'lo us. We sponsored movie benelils, a Senior play, and sold Chrislmas Cards, pencils, and candy. Now +ha+ June is so near. some of us wish we had made our journey richer and wilh more abundanl knowledge: bul mosl of us realize lhal' our pleasures musl come lo an end and we welcome gradualion as lhe heighl of our ambilion. -Jane Counlryman 4 ig me-1 , 1 .. -. , .
