CANADIAN MENNONITE BIBLE COLLEGE CONCERN IN COMMUNITY 6 How can the Christian and the world meet each other? Reality must be faced if we are to find even partial fulfillment in life. A Christian may progress to maturity through his immediate concern in the context of student life. Concern can grow through meeting other people and new ideas. A most rewarding and important contact with the world is our service in meeting its needs. Sin¬ cere dedication to this task is a step in becoming what we ought to be. KEN LOEWEN FACULTY PRESIDENT ' S ADDRESS Memory is one of those priceless treasures with which we as persons have been endowed. Memory has its own unique way of influencing people. For good or ill, it causes them to act. A yearbook is an aid to memory. It calls back into the present, experiences that were a part of an earlier chapter in life. It brings back to remembrance things that have been. The present yearbook is designed to tell the story of one year in the history of Canadian Mennonite Bible College. For those who participated in that year it will be a mem¬ ory stimulus. For others it will be a mirror that reflects something of the pulsebeat of the school program in 1966 - 67 . For all it should serve as an inspiration to the attainment of life ' s fuller meaning and its ultimate goal. LAWRENCE KLI PPENSTEI N, B.D. The madrigal group Singing, in choirs and smaller groups, has always constituted a significant phase of the music program. The introduction of the instrumental tech¬ niques class has brought new sounds to the campus. He fervently demanded a justification for all this mis¬ ery. But, rather than admit a meaningless, godless world, he pleaded, Show me my guilt, O God! Then God spoke — not to answer, but to silence him. J.B. (Job) was offered his life again. In spite of its frighten¬ ing possibilities, he could again love life. In faith, he could go on. , „ F Wpm RICHARD EPP Drake, Sask. LORRAINE SCHMIDT Drake, Sask. ELAINE PENNER Winnipeg, Man. DIANA GIESBRECHT Waldheim, Sask. Christian Education Program FIRST YEAR The question of outreach takes on added dimensions after even one year of college. The most noticeable aspect is the fact that opportunity greater than ever before is afforded through planned and organized means. More important, though, is the factor of introspection and personal concern which arises as we recognize the need for genuine commitment. Responding to the need willingly, with dedi¬ cation, results in a more valuable witness to our faith, as well as meaningful involve¬ ment beyond the walls of our Christian community. Richard Epp. H. The We Three singers, appeared at Youth for Christ meetings in Winnipeg high schools. % fa ■ outh for Christ Rally in November. During the school year the choir has sung in several churches in Winnipeg and in other parts of Manitoba. v Each year students have been given the opportunity to serve outside the college. Hospital visitation and children ' s work have been a feature of the deputation work since 1947. For nine consecutive years (1957-1966), students sang and counselled at Union Gospel Mission each Saturday evening. The reports in the 1952 Yearbook and Scroll on the work in St. Vital express the conviction of the total effort: God is at work. As Christians, we have been called to serve. We have the resources: faculty, fellow- students, books, and definite service proj¬ ects — all are ours. The future of our service program will, however, depend not so much on material resources, or on a proliferation of projects, as on a deeper commitment to each other and to the Lord of service. Ron Rempel. Anne Warkentin, a CMBC ex-student, and a missionary nurse to Indonesia, returned to the cam¬ pus for the month of February. As “missionary in residence”, she participated in classes and chapels. Students appreciated her willingness to join them in spontaneous, as well as in more formal group settings. ETTCKC Forty-three CMBC students attended a week-end Vocations Cinference at Mennonite Biblical Semi¬ nary, in Elkhart, Indiana. The conferences are located in the college buildirt So we can become acquainted with the conferen work and personnel. RESIDENT Missions Committee Dr. Paul Lederach, Scottdale, Pennsylvania, was the guest speaker during Bible Week. His theme was “Teaching for Mission.” Ministers-Laymen Course SECOND YEAR As a second year student looking back over this past year, I view these last eight months at CMBC differently than my freshman year. My studies have taken on a new perspec¬ tive, and f have found them very meaning¬ ful. Through dorm and student life this year, I have come to appreciate especially the many Christian friends with whom I have been able to share and work. This experi¬ ence has been a real highlight for me. Ruth Neufeld. RUTH M. NEUFELD Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. DON HOEPPNER Windygates, Man. Our studies have covered various fields — Bible, Music, Theology and the Arts. We have lived together in Chris¬ tian fellowship. We have been part of the church of Christ. To be the church has always meant to fellowship together, to admonish and forgive one another, and, in everything, to bear witness to Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit lived and worked in the first Christians. They were the New Testament Church. Throughout the centuries, the church has continued as a l iving body. As we leave college, we want to join fellow members of this church wherever we are and together, through the Holy Spirit, be the living witness to Christ on earth. Madeleine Enns, Valedictorian.
