Tonya Adkins and Janae Schafer were the first place winners in the Freshman division in doubles at the district tennis meet April 6, 1979. In the first two matches they won 6-O, 6-0 both matches. The third match they won 6-1, 6-3. The varsity boy's tennis team didn't place in district but had some really tough teams to play against. All three boys drew byes their first round and lost their second at district. At the Perryton and Canadian meets, the boys had tough luck and couldn't put it all together for a victory. At the Amarillo meet Chris Dickens made it to his third round and lost. The varsity girls tennis team really got with it at the district meet and got first place over Spearman which even made Coach Watson smile for once. The main objective of the FHA is to help members improve personal, family, and community living. The FHA develops a national program of work every four years to guide group activities toward this objective. Local chapters are guided by these projects in scheduling activi- ties. They arrange activities that will help members strengthen and broaden classroom instruction in such duties as child care, community improvement, consumer education, family relationships, and house hold manage- ment. The FHA carries out its goals with programs based on local needs and interests. Many FHA chapters work to promote good family rela- tions. Members learn how to start family councils to dis- cuss family problems and plans. FHA members learn how to budget and spend money wisely. Many chapters investi- gate job and career opportunities for home economics stu- dents. S ,,,, , , . J: N W H XL W 1, 45: 'Q-1' W A , ,, , ,,,, 1 vi, .f f 1, Q, v w , mms Q 1- . Both have been very active in various activities in and out of school. Karen led cheers as Dale played football and basketball all four years.
