J P BUSSELL Box 175 Rlngwood OK 73768 1405 883 46083 In the fall of 1941 I went to Texas Tech on an athletlc scholarshlp I got my knee torn up and had surgery World war II came along and I went to the Navy I returned from overseas and was dlscharged 1n 1946 I bought some cattle and leased a place I formed and ralsed some cattle for 10 years I marrled Lols Freeman daughter of Ralph and Angle Freeman of Canadlan October 29 1948 We had 3 chlldren Elalne of Hobbs Larry of Stlnnett TX and Stephen of Enld OK We have ll grandklds 2 great grandklds and another due 1D February 1992 I went to work 1D the oll fleld 1D 1949 as a doodle bugger wlth Petty Selsmograph Co then as a drlller for Bralthwalte and Caldwell a contract exploratlon drllllng company In 1954 I went to work for the Texas Plpellne Co at Lefors TX In 1959 I xuent to work for' Cltles Servlce O11 Co Gasollne Dlvlslon Plant By 1972 I had worked my way up to Shlft Foreman and was then promoted 113 Malntenance Supervisor .Ui late 1973 I was transferred to Carthage TX down ln the beautlful plney woods as Malntenance Supt f the Cltles Servlce Gasollne Plant January 1 1976 I was transferred to the Pampa TX plant as Operatlons Supt In 1977 the Malntenance Supt passed away and that Job was added to me In November 1983 we shut the Pampa Plant down and I took early retlrement I took about 10 months for me to declde that retlrement was not for me November l 1984 I took a job w1th Odessa Babbltt Bearlng Co My terrltory was Oklahoma and Kansas We bought an acreage south of Rlngwood Oklahoma a blg whlte house on a hlll cats have busy ever says MARY ELIZABETH PUCKETT BREWER 5372 E Junlper Scottsdale AZ 85254 wlth a large machlne shep shop and barn I have a few cows a few and one spotted dog all pampered and spolled beyond bellef I also played golf for 25 years Never very good but sure do enjoy lt As as I have been slnce retlrement ln Aprll 1990 I don t know how I had time to hold a job Lols lS stlll working for J C Penny Co She she lS too old to work but too young to retlre After gradutlng from CHS I attended buslness school 1D Oklahoma Clty OK Durlng the war years I worked for Western Unlon 1D Pampa TX I met and marrled John Brewer from Vlrglnla We llved lh Texas most of our l ves He retlred lH 1983, and we moved to Scottsdale John dled September 1989 We had been marrled 46 years. We ralsed 3 sons: Ken llves here ln the valley, Randy llves in Albuqueque, NM, Dennls llves ln Dallas, TX I have had a good and full llfe. I have always been Involved ln my church I play brldge, do needlework, dabble ln palntlng. IDA MAE JOHNSON LANCASTER 3308 Llnda Amarlllo TX 79109 4806 352 08183 I entered Northwest Texas Hospltal School of Nurslng 1D September f 1941 I graduated ln 1944 I worked as a Publlc Health Nurse and School Nurse 1D Amarlllo for 24 years I worked on the east slde lH the Barrio fMexlcan areal and loved every mlnute of lt I was a frlend of the wlno the newborn the medlcare patlent and the school chlldren I had 2500 students 1300 were teenagers I have set on the curb of the streets of Amarlllo hung my feet off 1D the gutters and checked the wlno s blood pressure I have held lmmunlzatlon cllnlc 1D the alleys and Westley Communlty Center Chased T B patlents hepatltls patients and others to rat hole apartments There were two places that I had to VlSlf that I w1l1 never forget The Maln Hotel and Mr Story s home I had a bllnd patlent at the Maln Hotel I had to VlSlt twlce a week The negro porter had a b1g knlfe ln the elevator he kept for hls protectlon and all I had was my nurslng bag Mr Story had been ln the hospltal for the crlmlnal lnsane He had a twelve year of son that was a dlabetlc an I had to teach hlm a dlabetlc dlet Mr Story would lay a plstol on the sofa between us and ask me lf I wasn t afrald of hlm I would reply that I had to dle sometlme I had three wonderful chlldren and three grandsons Two of my children have followed me ln the medlcal fleld D Nlcola Deveraux has her prlvate practlce ln Seattle Steve was an accountant for Sante Fe and took early retlrement He lS now a student doctor at Cleveland School of Chlropractlc 1D Kansas Clty I retlred 5L years ago I learned to type agaln run a computer and just flnlshed wrltlng a book of Genealogy I would wrlte a book about my experlences as a nurse but no one would believe lt BETTY ANN STUDER WEISHAUPT 61 54 Borgoyne Dr HOUSTON TX 77057 After graduatlon I had a year at Texas Tech and then went to Oklhoma Unlverslty School of Nurslng There worked and went part tlme college for several years Marrled had 3 chlldren 2 of whom survlve and 3 grandchlldren Dlvorced 1D 1975 the best move I ever made Have traveled to Alaska Canada Hawall Mexlco The Orlent the South Paclflc and Europe And mostly to my all tlme favorlte England You can tell that I love to travel but have been grounded slnce 1986 Lucky to have crammed so much 1U when I could Haven t been back to Canadlan except once ln 1968 and to some funerals 1D the early 1980 s Peggy O Nelll Wolf gave me a wonderful descrlptlon of the 1990 Reunlon It was llke belng there My chlldren and grandchlldren got a tremendous klck out of the playbllls of our Jr 8 Sr plays My accountant says I am an lnvestor and they should know I don t work very hard at lt anymore, bvecause lt really lS work I - . - . . C'-s HELEN STUDER SLUSSER Sulte l25 3809 Splcewood Sprlngs Rd Austln TX 78759 Llfe has not been wlthout lf s trauma and challenges but so far I ve survlved and. wlth a smlle on my face and thanks 1D nqf heart It s lt some years yet In retlrement for 7 years lh East Texas and on a cove of Sam Rayburn was a real change a pleasure and lots of work Gardenlng flshlng and mowlng 9 acres was lndeed hard work My famlly never thought lt offered the challenge my llfe thrlved. on and so rejolced when I accepted a job to teach school So here I am stlll teachlng and enjoylng being busy and teachlng As long as I am healthy and effectlve I probably w1ll 1D some capaclty Slnce I teach lH Burnet my days are long and I am rarely to be found at home I am unmarrled and enjoy vlsltlng wlth sons and their famllles lD Arllngton Houston Brentwood TN and wlth my brother Tom ln Corpus I make these rounds rather conslstently My son John dled of cancer when he was a college student The other three are successful buslnessmen and have lovely wlves and chlldren I occaslonaly stop by Cleburne to have coffee wlth Sylvester Reed and hls wlfe wllma who are lnterested and lnvolved wlth grandchlldren as I am I made a speclal trlp recently to vlslt Betty Ann Studer Welshaupt She lS the same brlght wltty beautlful smlle cousln she always was It would please me to travel more yet I ve been to Spaln Canada and to several countrles 1D Europe I thlnk I would llke to teach school one year ln Alaska dependlng on good health and other conslderatlons It lS about the last of the frontlers and that lnterests me The only other thlng I can thlnk of to wrlte lS how good food 1s ' About the only 2 thlngs I don t llke are llmburger cheese and buttermilk I am not sure lf that lS fortunate or unfortunate' It s one reason for my worklng out at a sports club when I drlve ln from Burnet I don t know how people go through rough tlmes wlthout a lot of falth Truly the Lord lS good Cwhen I was young 1D college I thought anyone who taught school had to be crazy 1D the head But I enjoy lt now and flnd I enjoy klds today BIG SURPISE D ei . -is .ii - s i f . , . .Q f 1- really been a great life, I continue to enjoy it, and hope I get to keep
