LEONARD SANDERS HCR 2 Box 40 Canadlan TX 79014 i806 323 69239 In the Fall of 1941 my brother Howard and I went to the Unlverslty of Texas to enroll 1D college We had not been there very long untll our father became serlously 111 so I had to come home to help out on the farm I stayed there untll I was called lnto the Army They sent me to Camp Roblnson Arkansas for my Basls Tralnlng then to Fort Ord Callfornla and then to Seattle Washlngton we boarded shlp there and slx days later arrlved lH Hawall for thlrty days of further tralnlng From there we went to the Johnson Islands Marshall Islands Caroline Islands and then up to the Marlanas to the lsland of Salpan where we had two weeks of lntenslve tralnlng Then we left for Oklnawa whlch lS an Island 325 mlles from Japan where we found out that we were not really very welcome when the war was over I was sent to the Phllllplne Islands and spent another thlrteen months there on Mlndoro and Luzon before returnlng to the States to be dlscharged On October 19 1947 T marrled Maxlne Owens another CHS Graduate and we have two chlldren Howard and Shlrley and two grandchlldren Scott and Krls We st1l1 llve on part of country llvlng Our maln enjoyment though comes from taklng trlps by car and so far we have vlslted every state west of the Mlsslsslppl and part of Canada We wlll observe our 45th weddlng annlversary thls year JUANITA DURHAM WILSON 4209 Crockett Amarlllo TX 79110 1807 C806 352 03177 I am retlred worked as unlt secretary for 20 years at North West Texas Hospltal Have 3 chhlldren 2 boys and l glr slx beautlful granddaughters and one handsome grandson Two of my grandchlldren l1ve ln Callfornla so I do not get to see them often enough I haven t been to a reunlon of Canadlan Hlgh School graduates I am elther worklng or off somewhere on vatcatlon when the tlme comes Llfe lS never dull' I had a chance to come to Canadlan last summer to see the Wlld Klngdom That was my flrst tlme back ln thlrty years I had forgotten how beautlful the hllls and trees are I am looking forward to the letters from all our classmates Maybe we could get some of us together sometime the farm that my grandfather started 85 years ago, and we still enjoy 1 . No plcture avallable Graduated SUDIE RECORDS REEDER Perryton 1601 S Drake Hlgh School Perryton TX 79070 C806 435 66553 After graduatlon I worked at Walgreen Drug 1D Perryton for over one year Then I went to radio and electrlcal school at the Waco Texas War Work Center From there I worked for Consolidated Aircraft 1D Ft Worth TX My Perryton High School sweetheart Joseph Edward Reeder Jr and I were marrled on March 2 1943 1D Sprlngfleld MO He was ln the Coast Guard a branch of the U S Navy I went to work near hls lsland statlon t Ellzabeth C1ty NC for Consolldated Alrcraft agaln Our flrst son Joseph Edward Reeder III nas born Aprll 13 1945 the day Presldent Roosevelt dled Ed my husband was 1D charge of loadlng bombs lH shlps at Portsmouth VA at thls tlme Nhen our son was 3 months old Ed was sent to Italy After the war Ed went to a trade school 1D Sprlngfleld MO I worked awhlle 1U a bakery Ed went to work for the Frlsco Rallroad 1 Sprlngfleld Our second son Bobby Gene Reeder was born February 2 1947 Our daughter Carol Suzanne Reeder was born November 30 1957 The same year she was taklng phonics ln the lst grade our son Bob was taklng phonlcs ln college So much for slght reading and modern math taught that unch of klds' Our older Son J E was 1D the Alr Force and served 1D etnam and Thalland Bob later served 1D the Green Berets lH Vletnam The servlcemen who served 1D the Vletnam wal were treated wlth dlsrespect when they returned to the States That was really a hurtful tlme In 1968 Ed transferred to Tulsa OK as a llne gang foreman 1D the communlcatlons department We found a home near Tulsa 1D Mannford and moved there September 13 1968 In 1969 I went to work for the Lake Keystone News 1D Mannford as bookkeeper and soclety edltor we loved llvlng on Lake Keystone I started coughlng from allergles about 1973 My Sister Chrlsteen Dendy dled at Easter that year About 1985 West Tulsa began burnlng all of Tulsa s trash ln a blg bulldlng Mannford had yellow alr quite a blt of the tlme and my health deterlorated Tulsa flnally put 1D a fllter system but I stlll cough when I go back to the Tulsa area On September 8 1989 I bought an older home 1D a nlce nelghborhood 1U Perryton It lS great to renew old frlendshlps By the summer of 1990 my health had lmproved so much that I qult coughing However I stlll cough lf I am around tobacco smoke My 3 children are very conslderate and lovlng to me I now have 2 grandchlldren and 2 great grandchlldren I stay busy and I am thankful to God for my health and to be back HOME' . .
