Lt. Aloysius H. Schmitt, ' 28, Chaplain Lt. Schmitt, the first chaplain killed in service during World War II, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps AAedal posthumously, Oct. 31, 1942. He was cited for distinguished heroism and sub- lime devotion to his fellow men while aboard the USS OKLA- HOMA during attack on the United States Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor by enemy Japanese forces on December 7, 1941. The citation asserted that his magnanimous courage and self sacrifice were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service. Our honored dead Michael J.
