Dedication The world is in turmoil. Unrest persists through decade after decade. The strife subsides sometimes, sometimes reaches frightening proportions, engulfing every nation without exception and threatening each with imminent extinction. Such is the condition of our world today. In every generation men are confronted with its peculiar problem. Men of this generation-the rank and file as well as those in places of prestige and offices of authority-witness with trepidation an unprecedented upheaval among the nations. Men of prestige and men of authority view this condition with instinctive fear, flagging hope, and ever rising bewilderment. Their disheartening sense of things is natural, for the problem beggars a solution fashioned of human hands. Yet the right solution-the one man is helpless to divise-the one man’s Maker alone can give, has long ago been given man by His Maker: ‘•Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build My Church.” Human peace and concord can stem only from a principle of unity. Man knows this but has failed to create the principle. God knows it and has in His wisdom and mercy favored man with this needed principle. “Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build My Church.” Why does mankind continue to flounder on the stormy seas of strife? Why does it grope with harrassed heart for harmony between the nations? Because “though they have ears to hear, they do not hear.” This divinely instituted principle of unity is the raison d’etre of Campion College. It is the daily effort of Campion to inculcate this certain principle of human harmony in the hearts and minds of youthful Canadians, who in time will sew the seed in other hearts and minds chiefly by the harmony evident in their own persons, by word when occasion warrants. Campion cannot attain a higher achievement-one ever assured by its filial and faithful devotion to His Holiness, Pope John XXM, the Vicar of Christ, the divine guarantee of unerring guidance to the haven of human harmony.
