The beat of life for the College began in 1906 with the formation of the Russell Creek Academy. As the academy grew and expanded, it was granted junior college status in November, 1923 by the authority of the Trustees at the General Association of Kentucky Baptists. It was de- cided the following year that the school should be renamed Campbells ville College. The proceeding years saw con- tinuous development with the College receiving accreditation by the University of Kentucky Association of Colleges and Secon- dary Schools in 1933. Upgrading into a four-year college was au- thorized in 1957 and, then, member- ship in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools as a liberal arts senior college in 1963 followed.
