For many years outgoing college classeshave published yearbooks, or annuals as they are more commonly called. These publications serve as a means of reflecting the activities of college life, particularly outside the classroom, and thus serve as an avenue of nliving overn some of the happy events of college days. The publication of the yearbook in itself is valuable to the participants, but other vdues are obtained that are even great- er for long after the actual achievement of pro- duction has been forgotten friendships are renewed, experiences are relived and incidents are reflected, upon that refresh the individuals who examine the pages of the yearbooks of their alma meters. With these values in mind the administration of Campbellsville College endorsed and promoted the pub lication of the first yearbook in 1926-27 two years after the establishment of the college department on the cemius. A committee chose to call the first an- nual HThe Garnet and Grayn to coincide with the school colorsg but in 1929 by vote of the student body upon names submitted by many students the name was changed to uThe Maple Trail.n This name seemed fitting because of the rows of maple trees that form the lan: leading to the main academic building on the campus. After four annuals had been published the activity was discontinued until l9hl-M2 when it was revived. It is the hope of the writer that this book, f its successor and its forerunners may become more and.more meaningful to their readers as the ex- periences of life bring about greater appreciation of those activities and individuals which are re- flected through their pages.
