Of course, we felt as if we had accomplished every honor and achievement that any person could ever attaing we had to be brought down to earth, which didn't take very long with the sponsors that were assigned to round us up --Mrs. Evelyn Rice, Mr. Paul Coope, and Mrs. Aubrey Peterson. Class officers elected were: president, Dick Hordg vice-president, Don Shaw, secretary, Barbara McCubbin, treasurer, Kenny Car- roll: and historian, Mildred Smith. Our colors were purple and white and red rose was our flower, artistic, weren't we? Our motto: The Harder We Work, the Higher We Climb. When carnival time came we had to have a representation in everything, so for king and queen candidates we chose Kenny Carroll and Mildred Smith. Soon afterwards followed the basket- ball season and we were still coming along with flying colors as Barbara McCubbin was chosen as cheerleader and Kenny Carroll and Don Shaw helped Mr. Coop along with other Eaglets to keep the bench warm. At the close of school we pooled our funds and went to Blue Hole for a picnic. OH!!! What a year!!! That summer flew by like lightning and around came school days . We had about forth members to begin that sophomore year with Mrs. Sally Deener as our sponsor. Again we elected our officers: president, Dick Hord, vice-president, Don Shaw, secretary, Ann Secrestg treasurer, Kenny Carroll, and historian, Rachel Marple. Our colors were red and white and red rose was our flower. For carnival king and queen candidates we selected Kenny Carroll and Barbara McCubbin. Then along came time for basketball. Our class was represented on the team, but the class sure did let down 'on the cheerleader situation as we didn't have a representative from the sophomore class. Guess what Mrs. Deener had to say about that? ? ? We learned our lesson the hard way. Picnic time came around, but we couldn't agree on some place to go so we stayed at school and kept the home fires burning . When September, l950, came around we really began to feel our keeping . That was our junior year and Mrs. Virginia McKinley was our sponsor. Officers elected were: president, Kenny Carroll, vice-president, Robert Bryant, secretary, Louise Russell, treasurer, Don Shaw: and historian, Dick Hord. Our colors were blue and white, our flower was white car- nation, and we selected They Conquer Who Believe They Can as our motto. In November the P.T.A. carnival was held, for king and queen candidates we selected Dick Hord and Barbara Hovious. Did Barbara ever give the queen one run for the 'MUMS ??? Basketball season soon arrived and we decided to forget all by-gones and really do things up right , so we elected Barbara Hovious as our cheerleader, and Don Shaw and Kenny Carroll were chosen to help the Eagles over the humps. When Uncle Sam called our vice-president, Robert Bryant, into service we decided that we couldn't' just sit back and let him go, we had to do something for him. We all pitched in our pennies and gave him a grand farewell, thanks to the Durhams. We were determined to show the school and the community that talent was to be found in our classg so we presented the play, The Angel of Red Canyon , which proved our point, with the proceeds we gave the Jr.-Sr.' Banquet. During the last week of school we en- joyed, and I mean enjoyed, a picnic at Griffin Springs. September 4, l95l!! our big day finally had arrived!! We were known as The Senior Class, the title we had longed for for eleven years. Mrs. Evelyn Rice was our sponsor. Officers elected were: president, Kenny Carroll, vice-president, Don Shaw, secretary, Ann Secrestg treasurer, Bettye Jean Mardis, and historian, Louise Russell. We selected blue and white as our colors and the gardenia as our flower, our motto: Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve. Along came time for the annual P.T.A. carnival and for our king and queen candidates we selected Don Shaw and Ann Secrest. We were overjoyed when Ann came down the aisle as queen, and proud of Don's close race with the sophomore candidate. Congratulations, Ann and Don! Again our favorite season came around-basketball-and the two senior athletes were still receiving honors as they were selected on the varsity squad. When the cheerleaders were elected, we were still in the running, Barbara Hovious was chosen for the second con- secutive year. In November came one of the first tests of our senior ability--presenting the annual senior play, in which we did credit to ourselves and our sponsor lwe hopej. We'll never forget Poor Hubert and our efforts to get a chest Purt near big enough to hold two of our heroes!!! This about concludes our history to the present. Now we are looking forward to the Jr.-Sr. Banquet, and also to one of the most important, as well as one of the saddest, days--our graduation!
