Students Find Themselves This year Campbell Universiry com- bined The Sfoiey Lecture Series ond Christian Focus Weel and presented them during the week of January 27th, The programs are designed ro help peo- ple become more aware of rheir Chris- rionity ond its ability to improve upon their lives- The moin speaker of The Stoiey Lec- ture Series was Dr Williom L Self The Stoiey Lecture Series is sponsored by some 200 compuses nationwide and is presented annually by the Thomas F, Stoiey Foundotion, Dr, Self spoke on the designated topic Adventures of Finding Ourselves. Being somewhat of o stond-up comic Dr. Self easily gained rhe respect of his audience with this remark, Doptisr preachers ore like fertilizer Spread out they do some good Clustered together they stink. If you don ' t believe that go to o Doptist convention In his speech Dr. Self procloimed the ultimote power is, not in your beouty, nor in your skill. God has the power ond he gives us that power to live. In his final lectures, Dr Self spoke about the corrosive effect of continuing resent- ments and the physical, mental and spiritual necessity of forgiveness; and on choosing life ond the necessity of positive commitment Dr Barge, who filled in for Mr Rowe because he was unoble ro attend due to inclement weather, spoke os port of Christion Focus Week. According to Dean Melvin, Dr. Barge did on ex- cellent job; he reolly knows how to communicate with the audience.
