He finds in them almost human qualities; one minute they are not working and the next, they are. Some clocks, like people, are tem- peramental. Reared on a Kansas farm, he has a love for gardening and a deep appreciation for small farmers. With his family Dr. Yoder enjoys rock collecting as a hobby. From a twenty-year collection he has built a fireplace in the new Yoder home. In appreciation of his work with summer camps for high schol students, he was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Na- tional Drill Team Association. In 1972 he received the Vivian Dawson Massey award and was named among Outstanding Educators of America for 1972-1973. He appreciates the small college because it gives him rich oppor- tunity to affect the quality of the community. He is never satisfied with his progress toward this goal, and when asked How are you doing? almost invariably replies, About half enough. For the excellence he exemplifies in all his relationships at Campbell and in the commu- nity, the staff proudly dedicates the 1975 Pine Burr to Dr. Paul Marvin Yoder.

DEDICATION This year ' s Pine Burr is dedicated to one who strongly believes in Christian higher edu- cation. Dr. Paul Marvin Yoder, as an educator, feels that each student is an extension of his life. This conviction causes him to work hard at all he does and to expect hard work from everyone else. Dr. Yoder first came to Campbell ' s Music Department in 1961. Since then he has been director of the Concert Choir — which has ap- peared in such places as Cinderella ' s Palace in Disney World and in Constitution Hall in Washington — director of Men ' s Ensemble, teacher of Music History and voice, and Chairman of the Department of Music. Beyond campus circles. Dr. Yoder is a deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Dunn, where he served for a long period as Minister of Music. He directs the recently-organized Cape Fear Community Choir and is a member of the Harnett County Forum, a group study- ing the improvement of community life. Dr. Yoder loves to restore antique clocks. ■lanie, Monlell, Dr. Yoder, Mrs. Yoder, irshall, Maribeth.
