Ada Elizabeth Taylor 1891-1965 George Collier Wliiteville, North Carolina Student Walter D. Barbee Seaboard, North Carolina Student and Trustee N. S. Stokes New Bern, North Carohna Committee of 100 C. V. Whitley Zebulon, North Carolina Former Trustee Mrs. W. P. Byrd Lillington, North Carolina Former Teacher William Tally Fuquay, North Carolina Friend A. C. Barefoot Angier, North Carolina Friend When someone has been a part of us for many years, her passing leaves a vacuum that is almost unfillable. Ada Jane Elizabeth Taylor was a part of Campbell College that will never fade from memory. On March 2, 1894, Ada was born in Loris, South Carolina. She was the oldest of thir- teen children, and so her mother taught her to cook. Because she was so young she had to stand on a stool to reach the stove. At the age of thirteen, she married. Five of her six children died in infancy. Later, her husband died also. Ada came to North Carolina when she was about twenty years old and worked for Mr. Billy Green. Then she worked for Dr. Leslie H. Campbell ' s children, and for Dr. Camp- bell, until she became head cook in the col- lege cafeteria, where she remained until her death — a period of about twenty-seven years. She was an active church member in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, a president of the district Women ' s Mission- ary LTnion, and a campaigner in fund-raising activities. To Ada Taylor, we say thanks for a life of service and devotion. In iMi mflrtam 31
