' IIII..IJJ . A. R. BuRKOT, Dean of the College Duiing the thirty-two years of my presidency at this institution, ahnost unbch ' evably great transitions and evidences of material and spiri- tual progress have taken ph-ice. Humanly sjjcak- ing, major credit for these acconi|)lishnients is due to the laboi-s of many dedicated men and women called into service here. In any listing of such j)e]soiis, a high ranking must he given to Dean Alexander Roman Burkot. A history of Dean Burkot ' s duties luid areas of service is impossible. I can however, confi- dently voice on behalf of lon-i-anking officials in the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, of hundreds of fellow staff members associated at some period with him at Campl)ell College, and of thousands of grateful students who have been recipients of his unflagging labor of love here, this tribute to him as a scholarly teacher, a discerning counselor, a gifted dean, an unfail- ing friend, and an unselfish Christian gentleman. 12
