LONELINESS we can remember the loneliness that can come within a crowd . . . the lost-feeling while among others . . . the family leaves, and the loved one back home for- gets, and you peer into an empty mailbox, and you walk away . . . again . . . there is loneliness after graduation when it seems all has ended and you, perhaps, in summer school, try to begin anew . . . new faces and friends . . . but that one i is far away . . .

JOY for us: the bonfire before the first basketball game . . . the cheers of the excited fans as the camels score another two . . . that feeling when we ' ve won another . . . for us: the looks of happiness on the faces of the winners after the elections are over . . . the long campaigning . . . the speech that swayed our vote . . . for us: the return following the holidays . . . talking, bragging, talking ... the feeling of returning to friends . . . to someone special . . . the before breakfast word and the late breakfast at the bookstore . . . for us : the posted grades ... the final bell . . . that last exam . . . for many: the joy that comes with a piece of compressed carbon on the third finger, left hand . . . for all: the remembrance of a year completed . . .

for what do we hope ... for the substance of things prayed for . . . the continuity of our years; the unforced faith; the dream . . . we hope for graduation; for inspiration; for passing marks . . . but mostly for the things of this world: for friends, for happiness, achievement . . . success . . . we hope for those who shall come, that they too will find all that we have had . . . and more . . .
