HARVEY LEE GRIFFIN July 18, 1899- July 12. 1961 Asheboro. North Carolina Campbell College Alumnus, 1920; B.S., Wake Forest College, 1924; M.D., Medical College of Virginia, 1929. Began general practice of Medi- cine in Star, North Carolina. Married Alice Jackson of Chase City, Virginia, 1929. Moved to Asheboro, North Carolina, 1935, and became Co-founder of Barnes-Griffin Clinic in 1938. Con- tinued as medical director of Griffin Clinic, Inc., from 1947 until his death. Member of Campbell College Committee of One Hundred and Director of Funds Campaign in Randolph County. A distinguished physician, generous civic leader and devoted member of the Asheboro First Baptist Church. ROBERT CURRIN In retrospect, the life of a man can be measured from different points of view. With an eye on the calendar, it can be stated in terms of the allotted three score years and ten or the actuary ' s latest average. Statistically, it can be announced that one has accumulated treas- ures or storehouses, stocks and bonds. Or, one has left behind so many survivors and heirs. Also, one has held so many offices and jobs, and attained various honors. A more significant measurement deals with impressions and in- fluence upon those who were his friends and neighbors. Are we the richer for having known him? Is the community a better place because he lived and moved about in it? During his period of service with Campbell College as farm super- intendent. Bob Currin made every day a full day. There was no guile nor pretense in his manner. Dependable, responsible, eager to learn and to improve his effectiveness, he honored God and man in his words, deeds, and attitudes. All of us are grateful for having known him and worked with him in love and Christian service. IN MEMORIAM
