Fourteen years ago Ernest Marshall Walker came to volun- teer his servic es to Campbell College, saying that his life was dedicated to teaching in a Christian College. But, with his undergraduate major in science and a seminary degree in the- ology, how adequate could his fund of scientific knowledge be and his skill in the techniques of scientific investigation? The intervening years have answered most happily these and other pertinent questions initially raised concerning our de- parted friend. He experienced no difficulty in reconciling dis- coveries made in the laboratory with truths divinely revealed to him in the seclusion of his study. In the meanest flower that grows his trained eye could see the handiwork of a loving Heavenly Father. At work or play, in public and in private life, he consistently practiced without ostentation the precepts of the Master Teacher. Upon the minds of students and faculty alike, he will be ever remembered as one who loved his fellow man. Perhaps no more fitting encomium upon the life and service of our friend could here be written than this: The steps of a good man are ordered of the Lord.
