The National Honor Society novv consists of 36 Senior students. To be inducted into this club one must be in the upper third of his class. The teachers vote twice, on Leadership, Scholarship, Service and Character. The first time the teachers vote, they are given a secret ballot containing a list of the junior students that rank in the upper third of the class. After the bottom 20 students are eliminated, the teachers vote a second time from a list of 50 names. The top 15'Vu of the students are then inducted into the National Honor Society at the annual N.H.S. assembly. The N.H.S. is quite an active club. Their activities include: decorating the halls for Christmas, annual- ly giving a 5100 check to the Campbell Citizens Scholarship Fund, and buying 25 dinners for Seniors to the All Sports Banquet. In the past they bought the flag in the gym and the paintings hanging on first floor. Their fast- paced drills across the field and the jazz-filled dances of the talented majorettes headed by Car- ol Fakner and Marilyn Hvizdak always sparked the halftime entertainment during the football sea- son. In addition to the precisional marching, the MHS band also paricipated in parades, seasonal programs, concerts and assemblies. 1969 1970 ser V. .ef-, as-me wr: 5' 21 1:-. :df W iy .figs V A 9 i,,,i i it ii ..::: f' -9 ,..: V Um? 5 fp - A . Bob Mangiarelli featured by rushing for 202 yards and scoring 2 touchdowns. Bill Armaline and Floyd Rogers also tallied for the Devils. The Campbellites made it 2 in a row by defeat- ing a tough Chaney team 14-6. Bob Mangiarelli scored first on a 37 yard sprint, but the clincher was a 29 yard pass from Bill Armaline to Sam Bar- illaire. The defense was led by Dom Cutrone, Rick Gozur, George Korchnak, and Ed Such. The Devils kept the winning treak going by edging Boardman 6-0. Although defense pre- vailed throughout the game, with 6 seconds left before halftime Rick Gozur managed to catch a 34 yard pass perfectly thrown by Bill Armaline to provide the only score. Paul Graban and Ed Such were the defensive stalwarts. Campbell's streak came to an end when a strong Hubbard club beat the Devils 14-8. As witnessed by some 7,000 fans, Campbell domi- nated play but the Eagles won at the end. Sam Barillaire caught a 72 yard pass from Ted Liska for the touchdown. A hardnosed defense led by Rick Gozur, Ed Carter, Ed Such, Paul Graban, and George Korchnak put on the best hitting display of the year. The Red Devils, struck with key injuries, were victims of a 29-0 loss to Ursuline. The lrish's size and strength proved to be too much to handle. The only bright spots were the running of Floyd Rogers and the tackling of Ed Such and Gary Musolino. Memorial had to travel to Canton to get its 4th win by downing St. Thomas 12-6. Bill Armaline featured by scoring 2 touchdowns, one set up by his 40 yard pass to Leslie Hawkins. Offensively, the blocking of Tom Psaras, Rick Gozur, and George Korchnak was cited. Coach Tony Cougras's Red Devils were hand- ed a tough loss by the Steel Valley Champs, Fitch, 13-6. A five yard plunge by Mark Cuva produced Campbells only score. Although the 47 Red Devils had opportunities to score, the boys just couldn't push the ball across the goal line. Ed Rudolphi and Gary Musolino were recog- nized for their defensive efforts. Avenging a 50-8 defeat the previous year, Memorial scored 28 points in the first half but had to sweat out a 4th period burst to defeat Girard 28-20. Bill Armaline ran for 2 touchdowns and passed to Bob Mangiarelli for another. Floyd Rogers also dashed 56 yards for the last score. Before a huge crowd Cardinal Mooney, capi- talizing on Red Devil's miscues, beat Campbell 36-8. Bob Mangiarelli scored from 7 yards out, and an Armaline to Gozur pass was good for the conversion. ln the final and traditional game with arch-ri- val Struthers the Devils won a thriller 16-14. Campbell scored first in this highly spirited game on Mark Cuva's 3 yard plunge, followed by Bill Armaline running for the 2 point conversion. A stalemate prevailed through the rest of the half with both defenses dominating. In the 3rd quart- er Struthers scored 14 points to take the lead. The key defensive play was made by George Korchnak, who tackled the Struthers quarter- back before he made the points after the touch- down. Late in the 4th period a 62 yard pass from Bill Armaline to Sam Barillaire tied the game. The all important extra points were scored on a pass from Bill Armaline to Rick Gozur. In this game Bob Mangiarelli ran 125 yards to lead this category. The defensive game was led by George Korchnak, Gary Musolino, and Ed Such. Key blocks were made by Paul Graban, Tom Psaras, and Dom Cutrone. Bill Armaline, who played superbly through- out the '69 season, won the honor of being se- lected the quarterback on the Steel Valley All- Star Team. Definitely the 1969 Red Devil football team was a unit of desire and hard work, but most important, teamwork. This Campbell team will long be remembered as one of the best of the 60'S. .1 D,- 1 - n Xi J: Mfr 4' 4. We, the co-editors of the Reveler 1970 , would like to thank the people who helped support the financing of Reveler 1970 . With- out their generous help the production of this yearbook would have been greatly hindered. Also, we would like to extend our thanks to Parise Studio for their consistency in giving us excellent pictures. A special thanks to Ken Brayer, former advisor, and our present Ameri- can yearbook company representative, and to George O'pretza, our present advisor.
