Maddox Kilgore finds that the motivation for his homework is, the fear of bad grades which is directly related to my parents. Academic excellence was a well known characteristic of the graduating class. The desire of making the grades , however, was apparent in the average students as well as those who excelled. Reasons, such as personal pride and fear from threatening parents and in- fluential peers were all a part of the pressures students found concerning their studies. Michelle Johnson stated one of these pressures was, the com- petition among the people in a class . Most students agreed that whatever the motivation, excelling academically was an important factor in helping to establish goals for the future.
