Four major meetings took place with guest speakers. The profits of the Bagpiper's Ball, along with other donations to the P.T.C., went to repair the light-tight shades in the gym, for ping-pon tables, for proud Scot- tish uniforms for our band, for elgectric fans for the class- room, swings, and for cassettes. Ten per cent of the money went to our future St. Anclrew's Chapel. As always, Dr. Alexander Campbell and Miss Mildred Hawks made 1971 a wonderful year for everyone. Mr. Wendell Niles, Jr., who was our excellent president for this year, deserves a great amount of thanks for making the P.T.C. as successful as it was. We thank all of the other oflicers and all the members of our P.T.C. for their help. -Bubs Hopper THE PARENT-TEACHERS COUNCIL MR. WENDELL E. NILES, IR. President Left to right: Mr. Iames P. Among other things the Valkyries rolled fpr the aged people in rest homes at Christmas, held a lunch, sold zip code booksg and went Disney an . ' Fhe Vikings are the counterpart of the Valkyries. Twelve little Christmas trees Riding through the snow, In a red and rumbling truck Wondering where they'll go. Twelve little Christmas trees Think they're sure to freeze, When all at once they are sold To twelve gay families. Twelve little Christmas trees Sparkling with light, In twelve snug and happy homes On Christmas eve and night. - Amy Case Fourth Grade CHRISTMAS POEM Christmas time is almost here, It's the season of good cheer, Candles glow with fires bright, While children are waiting for Christmas eve night. Children sing a Christmas song, And the days seem like they're extra long. Hurry Santa and bring to us, The wonders and joys of a Merry Christmas. - James Paul Fourth Grade AMERICA'S STATES Every state is famous for somethingg Alaska is known for its snow. Then there is Wyoming, Where cattle are roaming. In Hawaii tropic winds blow. In Kentucky the Derby is famous. It's the shrimp in Louisiana. Kansas has wheat, New Mexico, heat, And steel mills are in Indiana. Arizona has the Grand Canyon. Wisconsin is famous for cheese. Mississippi, the river, New Yor ' has chopped liver, And Arkansas has all those trees. Pike's Peak is in Colorado. Texas has many an oil well. Georgia has lileaches, Floric a, beac es, Pennsylvania, the Liberty Bell. Every state is famous for something, North Dakota is known to be cold. Now after this wait, We come to our state. California is famous for gold! - Cary Corb Sixth Grade CHRISTMAS Christmas brings us lots of joys, It's a thrilling time for girls and boys. A moral is what someone else learns from your Experience. - Kathy Andrews Eighth Grade LIFE Life is no joke but instead a reality, A series of events leading to happi- ness or sorrow, and finally taking us to a goal. Through life we learn from these events and eventually realize what fools we've been and what humans we should be. - Mimi Orth -Eighth Grade REFLECTION Here on earth I am bound. Tied down by unseen ropes. Forced to cope with that word defeat. Never free to fly in soaring motion. Even though I'm tied lim free. I am free to ex lore and attempt. Defeat is whatllnuilds us up and keeps us strong. So, it would be a sorry world if no one was defeated and everyone flew. But it would be an even sorrier world if no one knew the difference between defeat and failure. - Deidre Smith Ninth Grade TRUE LOVE Cast all your troubles to the rain, Sing a love song very soft and low, Whisper one of love s soft, sweet refrains, Think of the days you will always know. Listen to the rain beat on the groundg Hear the fire crackle at your side, Listen, but you never hear a sound, Even rustling leaves all brown and dried. Can you think of anything so pleasing As to sit by a fire on a rainy day? To be with the one you love all day just dreaming, And need not have a single word to say? Only a true love can be like this To understand the love meant for a friend, To take a vow and seal it with a kiss, And stay together till the days will end. - Dalli Maki Ninth Grade 36 WHY? I woke this morning And looked outside And saw the markers Where those who died Had been buried Beneath the ground, And noticed that nothing Made a sound. The plea le who died For t is Ihloody war, Had been heroes Of not long before. The little children Out to play, Will live each day, Day by day. And when they grow older And ask the question Of some soldier, Why is war? What good has it done? The soldier will answer NVithout a smile, It protects the people For a little while. - Cindy Royster Eighth Grade STRAY A stray dog wandered down the hill pawing The dirt and hungrily eating bugs under rocks Seeing a cat he ran after it, only to be caught by a dogcatcher. - Patti McCord Ninth Grade SUMMER DREAMS I dream of castles in the sand, Of misty mornings true. I dream of days, the one's I love, And also dream of you. The seasons pass by quickly, But yet the days are long. I dream of summer, winter, and fall, And sing a simple song. And once all the snow has left, And summer days live on, Oli come the shoes, away they go, Dancing night to dawn. - Dalli Maki Ninth Grade CHILD THOUGHTS Poetry and fairy tales And wind to iill imagined sails, For a child's boat of thoughts is slow Unless its sails have wind to go. A childis thoughts can be great fun, Or memory of wrong he's done. He can dream of sweets and apple pies, Or think of something really wise. A child has a suflicient mind To think a thought of any kind. A child's thoughts are his very own, And with his t oughts he's never alone. - Denise Simon Ninth Grade A A-.9 - '.- V ,, ,-' - 4.- , P' H r .gtg-,-LL Y- J- , ' 7 H M1615-an-gi f lv.. Thatis how it went in October 1970, as Campbell Hall rolled over Laurel Hall in the Homecoming Came of 1970. Behind the blocking of the offensive line, we found Scott Robbins throwing a look-out pass to jon Ames and behind the power blocking of Joe Heisman, one of our better backs, Ames and Heisman galloped in for the only touchdown made during that game. Our arch rivals, the Hornets of Laurel Hall, found some way of coming up with the ball in our end zone which was good for points but not quite enough to pull the game out for our friends at Laurel Hall. Thanks to Joe, Jon, and Scott and the entire team for 1970 and '71, And thanks also to our coaches for giving us an unforgettable season in Campbell Hall's football career. The score was 6 to 3, Campbell Hal1's victory. -Ion Ames K1 i fb M '-.., 'WK SNOW QUEEN DEIDRE SMITH AND HER COURT CORONATION BALL The Coronation Ball is our only formal dance of the year. It was held on February twentieth and was very successful. The Valkyries do all the fund raising and planning that goes into this dance. But it would not have been as big a success had it not been for Mrs. McConnell and Miss Raybourn. The beautiful princesses and their escorts Were Yolanda Alvarez and Mark Sancbezg Jeanine Black and George Coxg Lore Bellon and Clyde Cowang Melinda Eccleston and Tom Logueg Dalli Maki and Mark Brankovichg Deidre Smith and Don Maling and Christine Carder and Eric Scott. Last year's charming queen, Alison Keith, crowned our lovely Deidre Smith QDee- Dee to us! It was a thrill- ing moment for everyone present at the dance. -Kathy Andrews 4333, E QUEEN DEIDRE AND DR. We had five this year and they were some of our very best. In October our lovely Homecoming Queen, Kim Keith, was honored at the Harvest Hop. It was very successfully sponsored by Mrs. Knudt- son, Mrs. Chavkin, and Mr. Eriksen with the help of their classes. Miss Raybourn and Mrs. McConnell made our Christmas Dance as great as it Was. The Spring Swing was one of the best decorated and successful dances of the year. This year, its sponsors were Mrs. Knudtson and Mrs. Kanzler. Our last dance was the Aloha. Everyone Wore Hawaiian clothes to go with the decorations. Mrs. McConnell, Mrs. Chavkin, and Mr. Edelman made the dance as much fun as the rest of them. We,d like to thank all our teachers and parents for chaperon- ing these dances and staying later to see that everyone is picked up. Our thanks go especially to our teachers for spending so much of their time to help us plan, decorate, and raise money for our dances. -Kathy Andrews 100 DEIDRE SMITH AND DON MALIN MD Ni. 1 Q ff-.ii ., ,rw ,-Za. . 51 1 'fe -' ,XF gg? vvP'vEi'f'f ' v I. -. , H, '1'FH.,iW56M m' 5R,.v,U..U.U,,fU HWS? - l13'l?U 4m15.H.,.,9T7Tf--ff.:S W, '95W,A,M i1, ,dm Fx x g '+- WJJW .SE5'1.vE2:n.,5f?T'44.... f , 5 'Miami' , iglh jw! ,M'i,iw1 A- , L42 ,,f . -V, l ,P-s -2 1?
