EVERYWHERE, EVERYTHING, EVERYONE In this subjctt I met-t poor men and kings, Outer Space men anil nsly, hair - things. I can go to many places, And I can sec many Foreign faces. For in this subject you can have a hall. Reading, the very best of all! You can talk to lions and to snakes. Shooting rapids and swimming in lakes. Reading! reading! It ' s the best: To read a book I ' d give up the rest. Putting on a golf course, or speeding in a boat. Reading is the subject that gets my vote! — Scott Bollenbacher Sixth Grade (k. U-, f FREEDOM Freedom is quite a word in American history. It was first started when the Pilgrims left England to have the freedom to worship God in their own way. Freedom was the whole reason of the Revolutionary War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War. and the present war now, the Vietnamese War. Freedom is to express your opinion and to be able to speak of your country. Freedom is to talk freely, to write freely, to travel any place a person desires. Freedom is not being ruled over, not being told what to do, say, read, or where to go. Freedom is to be observed and praised and not to be abused or frowned at. All of the men who have died for our country have died so that u e might have freedom. They ga e their one and only life so that many other lives might live in freedom. That is the biggest price a man can pay for his country. Freedom is a big word and it means a lot to me. When I get my chance I will be willing to defend it. -Bill Urick Sixtli Grade NOBODY ' S PERFECT I hate poems, They ' re hard to write, I hate poems, ' Gause I ' m up all night. I hate poems, They bore me .so, I hate poems, Ouch, just stubbed my toe. I hate poems, I ' ' nglish is fun, I hate poems, I ' m still not done. I hate poems. Well, not so much, I hate poems. Just need a magic touch I hate poems, This is fun, I hate |ioems, Gosh, just wrote one! — Jim Davis Sixth Crude - ' PIANO I practice, I practice Hotli morning and night With full concentration And ,ill (if my might. Practice makes perfect, . t least so they say. So I sit by the piano Both night and d.iy. My teacher has patience. His name ' s Mr. Boys His world is nuisic With all of its joys. — Lisa-Jayne Rosengren Sir i ' Grade 58

Fifths, quarters, halves, and thirds, . re all fractions for the birds. This is not all, as you will see For next we Ro into geometry! — Lisa Erickson Sixth Grade A PIECE OF SPAGHETTI I was born in a spaghetti factory in Los Angeles, California. My parents were pieces of wheat. My cousins are pieces of macaroni. My aunt and uncle are raviolis. I like tcmiato sauce. I think it gives me personality. I like taking a hot bath because it makes my skin soft. A meat ball adds a lot to me in a veiy special wav. It gives mt ' time to ring my chimes. Although I ' m very witty, I think it is a pity that I might be wasted by some little child. It ' s about Christmas time. I want you to spray me silver and hang me on your trees like tinsel. — Gary Henzie -Sixth Grade d MY FAVORITE SUBJECT I have to write a poem About a subject at onr school I ' ve been thinking for an hour And I ' m feeling like a fool.
