THE DEBATE QEASS What, why, and when are the questions the Campbell County High School debate class has been answering so successfully. The what is the years national high school debate subjectf Resolved, that the Federal Government Should Provide a System ot Complete Medical Care to all Citizens at Public Expense. The debaters, under the supervision ot Bill Hayes the first semester, have been convincing other schools about the whys and whens. On December 7, l946, having decided they could logically substantiate their arguments, the debaters attended a Speech Festival at Casper. Green River was also represented. All the following trips were to South Dakota, where the debaters entered into extemporaneous speeches and debates with Lead, Sturgis, Rapid City, Custer, Hill City, and Phillip. As the school years curtain comes down on this ambitious group, Bob Waddell, a freshman, and Doran Eldridge, a senior, are members of the National Forensic League, while Verna Mae Thomas and Larry Gilbertz, both seniors, each hold a Degree ot Excellence in this same society ot public dis- cussion and debate. Bob Waddell is standing president ot the Gillette Chapter, National Forensic League, which was reorganized last year.
