SARATGGA Saratoga, like Paris, cannot be seen in a day. We debated, as we Zlte our lunch and sampled Saratoga's own mineral water, on the various merits of Turkish-bathing, horse-back-riding on that beautiful race-track, or shopping and movie-going. We decided, finally, on the latter course. Virginia was very sure that she did not want to look ten years younger so the Turkish-bathing was out. We didn't have horses to ride around the track, and Beulah did want to see No More Ladies. In record time, therefore, we purchased the crackers, cheese, and other delicacies that one always associates with a trip to Saratoga. Then a delightful ride to Glens Falls where we laughed uproariously at Bob Montgomery's philandering and sympathized whole heartedly with Miss Craw- ford. After the picture we paid a visit to the Glens Falls live-and-ten, where Dotty and Lucille bought the pennants and magazines that are second only to food in a camper's' affections, and there was not one of us who disagreed with Rona when, after a race to the bus, she said, Ah nevah had such a good time in all mah life! LAKE GEORGE SEEN ABOUT TowN Excerpts from the Lake George Gazette Well, folks, Camp Rondack girls have been here again. And judging from reports received, they've had a fine time during their visit. The Jones family, while on an outing, saw a group of Rondack girls exploring our renowned historical ruins. Billie Jones says that one of the girls gave him a delicious brownie. Her name was Dotty and seven-year-old Billie was quite smitten by her charms and the brownie. Can this be romance? The clerks in our food stores proclaim a decided increase in the number of sales. Reports from the gift shops also show an upward trend. Several of our townsfolk heard a group of campers exclaim: 'This'll be just right for Ronal' It was later discovered that they were endeavoring to purchase a birthday gift for one of their number without her knowledge. They succeeded in getting a lovely blue riding-shirt. 'Ducky' was the lucky man who took the girls for their speedboat ride. As it was a Warm day he was rewarded by exclamations of delight. After they had returned to the dock one of the girls took his picture. It turned out that she was the Editor-in-Chief of the camp magazine. It was certainly a pleasure to have the Rondack girls here and we hope to see them again.

s ee Tuesdays child goes traveling far By bus, by motorboat and car. AUSABLE CI-IASM Grand Canyon, Jr., more familiarly known to Rondack campers as Ausable Chasm, once again became the center of attraction on Tuesday hike- days. Midst the deafening clatter of Cheg's and Rona's knitting needles and almost everybody's tongues, the two-hour trip passed quickly indeed. But Rondackians have healthy appetites even without the added stimulus of a long bus ride, so sandwiches were exchanged and eaten right there on the spot, in direct view of the picturesque Rainbow Falls. An extensive shopping orgy followed, in which everything from sodas and sundaes fof courselj to minia- ture papooses and birch-bark canoes were eagerly purchased. And then came the trip through the Chasml Traveling through the steep gorges and seeing the magnificent Elephants Head and Devil's Oven thrilled us all, and far sur- passed even the expectations of one Frances Block, Rondack camper of long standing, who was making the trip to the scenic spot for the iirst time. The Natural Post Office produced another thrill when Carol Newman succeeded in uncovering the name and address of a long-lost cousin! Shooting the rapids was the next item on the day's list of must dos and certainly topped the day off in the right way! However, all good things must end and with no casualties besides complete fatigue and total dizziness from the splendor of the sights, busward we climbed and campward we finally rode! WALKING TRIPS I qv A pair of strong legs. a pack of ambition, a delicious pic- ,' nic lunch, and Mr. Arthur lngraham as guide were all that Q R Rondack campers needed to scale any of the oh-so-high moun- gl , Tlx tain peaks which abound in these parts. In addition to the old ljgwf-' reliables, Pharaoh, Sugarloaf, and Grasshopper, a new and even f i , I W Ml ,, y harder climb was added to our list-Blue Mountain. Travelers i on Rondack's maiden voyage up Blue Mountain included the famous team of Block and Greene, Mildred NVolff, Donna Gold- W i man, and several other prominent Rondack campers. Even the A , heavy rains which fell did not daunt the intrepid pioneers in their courageous ventures, despite the fact that Jean Field and Thelma Savada did slide all the way down Pharaoh in the icky mud! And the after-trips to Schroon Village and Indian Lake Village, with their refreshing chocolate sodas and pecan sundaes served to restore to Rondackians any excess poundage lost in the strenuous climb. But the best part of all? Why, the triumphant return to camp, of course, and the excited singing of those exciting songs and cheers, composed to excite the envy of those sissy bus-hikers!

CANOE TRIP Here come Judy and Clarice with the food! Put the basket into Cheg's canoe: get an extra back-rest. Now we're about ready to leave. Head up, Helenz feather your paddle, Percy: arm straight, Carol! come the familiar commands, and We're off on that Tuesday water jubilee, the canoe trip. This looks like a perfect camping-ground. There's Harriette with a tomato and a steak in one hand, a brownie and a marshmallow in the other, attempting with some difliculty to eat them all at once. A sudden breeze unexpectedly sweeps across the lake, and we see the rain clouds piling up. Beach your canoes, girls, Jean is saying, as the girls begin to fear for their precious knitting. Ooh, but the water is coldl as Whiz and Claire have just discovered, Fuzzy in her haste having overturned the canoe as she was getting out. All is well as we sturdy paddlers arrive home, in unanimous agreement that we have made the merriest and most unusual canoe trip of the season!
