GENERAL SWIM - Activities 'may come and activities may go but General Swim goes on forever. Eddie's all ln and all out are as much a part of Rondack as the Pine Grove or the Barn. The -JST . patrols can take much of the credit for the progress made by ' campers this summer. Katzy, Cheg, Whiz and Jeanie have lull! certainly done their part towards making green, caps red caps, and red caps blue caps. x ill Acidophilus and Alowishus, our rubber horse and ball X respectively, are familiar sights' each General period. Ruthie ' - Obler and Julie Doelid, our white caps, can always be found get on the diving-board and Thelma Savada is usually displaying her famous crawl, the center of an admiring group. General supplies amusement for everyone. Every Rondackian, from Lucille Gottlieb who sticks close to the beach to Leila Rosenzweig, who sticks close to the Blue Cap float: from Joan Samek, who ventures out as far as the end of the dock, to Virginia Rosencrans, who thinks nothing of crawling out to the Red Cap float, loves General. It is as popular with our youngest campers as it is with our oldest. No wonder-specifically speaking-General is Ron- dack's favorite period! Friday's child on Schroon Lake blue, Learns to paddle her own canoe. BOATING Schroon Lake winds like a pleasant mem- ory through the leaves of our calendar. Flick- ing the pages of our record, we note that many , of our happiest moments were spent boating and canoeing. Under the watchful eye and active megaphone of Jean Allen, our Monarcla of the Sea, assisted by the activities of that ener- getic First Lord of the Boathouse, Ruthie Litt, it didn't take our young landlubbers long to become old tars. Our beachcombers discovered a boat for every mood, it seems. ln the evening, when the lake was silvered over with calm, we were to be found relax- ing against some pillows in a sturdy green boat, or perhaps, paddling in a canoe, ever so gently, almost reluctant to disturb the peace of old Schroon. Regular boating periods, on the other hand, were always opportunities to test our skill. Especially amazing was the competence of our younger campers, like Selene Davidson, Gloria Schustek, and Claire Field. If, like Julie Doelicl, Ruth Litt, Ruth Obler, and Leila Rosenzweig. you were an experienced and tested yachter, gunnelling was your sport. Otherwise, like Evelyn Sitomer or Lillian Bader, you concentrated on the proper manner of propelling yourself around in boat or canoe. As for good boaters, Rondack can proudly say, Aren't we all?
