Junior Claire Field ......Beatrice Wasser ....,..Beatrice James Dorothy Ureles RED LETTER DAYS Gamma Alpha Gamma NOTES ON A CAMPER'S CALENDAR 'Alf the day I got my third star was a red-letter date, the day I made Gag must have been a violent scarlet on this summer's calendar. How hard I tried for those three stars! Without being a goody-good, I did so much Want the third star that would make me eligible for Gag! From the moment I heard that Gag Was the highest camp honor-that being a Gagger meant you were outstanding in Character, Athletics, Camper- ship-I wanted to be a Gagger. It wasn't very easy. It meant lots of self-control, keeping my temper, trying to be helpful, but it was certainly worth it! I've put a red circle on my calendar around that particular campfire night! I know I stopped breathing in excitement when Mr. Chankin yanked me up, as a new Gagger-and I didn't start again until, with tears in my eyes, I heard the Gag sing to me 'Gamma Alpha Gamma Girls!' That was surely the reddest red-letter day of the summer! GAG OUTING Gag on a spree! For a brief half-hour, Gamma Alpha Gamma-that select society of Rondack's finest-forgot its dignity and its responsibility as example- setters and threw itself into the business of demolishing every crumb of that feast of feasts! Potato-chips, mustard-smothered hotfdogs, nuts and brownies vanished in rapid succession as they ate and ate and ate-too busy even to talk. Speculation ran high as Thelma and Jean debated the nature of the sur- prise which Nlr. Chankin had described so very mysteriously. Both were proven wrong, however, as the main event of the evening was brought on-chocolate- covered ice cream on sticks! lt was with full stomachs and hearts that the Gaggers inally went down to their bunks and beds, ready to be dignined once more.
